I am trying to sell my wedding dress and engagement and wedding ring. Any suggestions. I was only married for 3 months after my ex husband told me he wanted a divorce. There is no reason to something that is going to give me bad memories and suggestions or ideas.

What can I do next?

I would try Ebay or Amazon.com. It's amazing the things people will buy, and how much they are willing to pay.

Have you thought about using e-bay. I have been just about everything on that site. I had a cousin who bought her wedding dress off of e-bay because she was in a money/time crunch. Just a suggestion.

Hi M.!

I'm so sorry about your situation with your exhusband! I feel for you!

If you have an Ebay account, you can list them on Ebay. If you do not, I am an Ebay Trading Assistant and could list them for you for a nominal fee.

There's also free online classifieds such as http://dallas.craigslist.org/ where you can list items for sale for free. I've sold several things both ways (including my wedding set on Ebay!). :)

Good luck and take care! Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Dallas Gold & Silver buys jewelry and I hear they often offer a fair price. Good luck to you.

Hi M.,
I would measure the dress and take some good pictures with it on then put it on Ebay. I have done this with several things, and there are a lot of formal and wedding gowns out there. The thing that sets yours apart will be the detailed measurements and description. I bought a couple of formal gowns that way, and will not go back!! My measurements were perfect and I did not need the tailoring done. You can do the rings separately or together as a set, just say "only worn 3 months", and that should be good. This is just a suggestion, but it is easy and no one will be bothering you to come by unless they happento live in the area, and you do not have to even allow that.
Good Luck!

first, let me say i'm sorry. i wish you all the luck in raising your son. regarding your request ... i would recommend ebay. i've found it to be fair and easy and quick. and, if you don't get the kind of bid or interest you want, you don't have to sell. you stay in control. there's also http://dallas.craigslist.org/. good luck!

i'm so sorry to hear of your situation :-(

you could try annonymously yours...it's a wedding resale shop in dallas

a good bet may be e-bay for it all. several of my friends have purchased dresses there. it's very easy to list things and you can control how much you would like for it.

Ebay is always a good way to sell your goods, and you may want to look into some local consignment stores as well. Although, you may get more money for them online.

Whichever way you go...be sure to lean on your loved ones during this time. I know the challenges a single mother faces.

Take Care of yourself!!

Hello M.! Look into consignment stores, that's where I sold mine many years ago. The store was in Carrollton, but I'm sure Dallas has a few to offer too. I'd give you more information, but I don't remember any details on the place at all.
Also, what about e-bay? They sell everything!!
Good luck!

Go to www.craigslist.org (Craigs list) and list both there. I have had great success with buying and selling on the site. The best part is there are no fees and it's all local. Just click on Dallas and choose your category. It's simple. Good luck! And I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. I'm a single mom now too, though of my choosing. Who needs a man anyway???

Hey M.,

You may consider selling them on ebay. I have sold several items and if you are computer literate, it's pretty easy. If you do not want to sell it your self on ebay, there are people and places that will do it for you (for a percentage of course!). Hope this helps, if you want, you can email me back anytime: ____@____.com

Thanks!

When I got married several years ago, I was interested in renting a wedding dress or buying a used one. There are several places around town that do this. I don't remember their names...but I do remember that there was a really big one in Lewisville. You might try to check it out. As far as the ring goes....you won't get any where near the amount of money for the ring that it's worth--if you go directly to a jeweler. Try ebay and see how much you can get. Also, think about taking the diamond out of the ring and making something out of it--another ring, a bracelet, a pendant. But I understand wanting to get rid of it. I was engaged once and I broke it off right before the wedding. hang in there--you'll make it through this.

Bummer of a situation! You'll probably get the most if you sell your stuff on eBay or a reputable high-end consignment store or resaler in Dallas.

Hi M.,
I'm so sorry!
I would agree with the other response that eBay might be your best option, post pictures and specifics about the gown. You might be able to get the most money from an Ebay customer.
But there's a bridal consignment store in Dallas called Anonymously Yours, http://ayresale.com. The website says they will keep your bridal grown on their sales racks for up to 90 days. There's a 50/50 split on the price it sells for.

I'm not sure about selling jewelry over Ebay --- I've seen/read many stories cautioning people about buying jewelry over Ebay because sellers aren't always truthful about the diamonds (quality, size, etc.) So I'm not sure if you'd get a good customer response on the ring, but you could try to sell at a local jeweler who custom creates rings. Look in phone book under jewelers, jewelry repair/custom made, etc. and start calling to see who would be interested.
