I was wondering if this hospital has a waterbirthing center? or if you can rent a tub and take it in there?

What can I do next?

I don't know of any hospitals in the area that offer waterbirths. Maybe call Baylor Frisco because they are more of a boutique style hospital but I think if you want a water birth you have to have it at home or an actual birthing center.

I agree with most poster when they say the hospitals don't allow water birth!! I have tried. but if you find a doctor who is be willing to dilever in the water that is your best bet .

I went to Prespy denton with doc Cummings...
Good luck

With my first child, I started out wanting to deliver in a hospital and have a natural child birth possibly in water. But, the more I researched I knew I would have a better experience at a birthing center. I finally conviced my husband and interviewed several midwives and decided that a home birth was actually what I was wanting. I wanted the freedom to decide what was best for my body and be able to walk around the neighborhood and as much as I needed to progress my labor without having to worry when to leave to go deliver my baby. We chose a midwive that has been doing homebirths for 37 years and has much pretty seen everything. So I did all my prenatal visits with her and could even do sonos. In the end I'm so glad that I chose to do it this way. I felt very impowered and not afraid of the actual day or the pain. Of course me and my husband took classes to prepare for what to expect but in the end it was really the best decision for us. It was the best day of our lives when she was born and so memorable and it was so nice to be able to trust my body and my baby to do what it needed to deliver safely. I really feel like it gave my daughter and I this incredible bond since we went through that experience together, as well as me and my husband. I didn't end up delivering her in water but was in there for some time while labor. Good Luck and best wishes on your delivery.

I think only the birth centers allow water births. I would seriously doubt Plano Presby allows such things given they barely allow doulas (or did when my son was born). Give them a call though. Good luck!

I've had both my babies at Plano Presby and they don't allow water births. They have showers but no tubs. I so wish they had the tubs. I did have great, natural birthing experiences at this hospital.

Baylor Dallas has one but you need your OB or midwife to let you use it. I know that it does not get used very often. But Baylor Dallas is the best for natural delivery. (Baylor University Medical Center). You may have much better luck with going to a birthing center if your heart is set on a water birth.
Allen Birthing Center does water births in both of the rooms they also have a portable tub for home use. http://www.allenbirthingcenter.com/ the nure midwifes are awesome and have a lot of experience I think that they all worked at parkland as midwifes before opening up the birthing center. Good luck.

I delivered there 2 years ago and they did not allow water births. I did deliver there naturally, however, and nobody batted an eye or tried to coax me into medication. I would deliver there again, I was very pleased with the whole experience.

You can have a water birth at Presby Allen. I did push in the tub but found it better to just push on the bed, so I got out. My midwife delivers there. She is with Craig Ranch Ob/gyn: http://www.craigranchobgyn.com/
You can get a tour there to see the room with the tub. It is an oval, garden tub. However, it is only one room that has the tub, so if someone else is already in labor, you won't get to have it. They don't let you recover in the tub room since it is the only one with the tub. You'll get moved to another room for recovery.
Even though I did not actually deliver in the tub, the warm water did ease the labor.

I'm sure they do not have waterbirth capabilities there. However, I had a natural birth there and it was wonderful. My Dr. and all of the nurses were very supportive and motivating. I was in labor for 14 hrs and they let me walk around and use my body ball. If I were to have another child (which I will not), I would go back to this hospital.

I had a natural birth at Baylor University in Dallas (mentioned by another poster) and I did not use the tub, even though I was cleared for it. I did stand in the shower for the 2.5 hours before I was fully dilated- the hot water on my back was really important.
It really doesn't matter what hospital you "want" to deliver in- your ob/ care provider has priveleges at certain hospitals and that is where you will deliver. If you have your heart set on a certain hospital, then you need to change ob to someone who is on that staff.
I also HIGHLY recommend that you have a doula if you intend to have a non-medicated birth (which is what a water birth will be). Our doula was worth her weight in gold. Try dona.org for a list of doulas in the area. Also, the hospital may have a list.
Good luck!
