Washing Kids Sheets

Right after I had my baby, I had the luxury of hubby washing all the bed linens and making the bunk beds! It was pure joy!

Hubby told me I should only wash the kids sheets once a week. I can kind of see this if the kids usually go to bed clean, they don't sweat yet, but what do you think? Biweekly or weekly sheet washing for little people?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I meant bimonthly! I wash linens every Friday. Its "clean sheets day," as my 5 year old likes to say. I hate making the top bunk, though.

What? We're supposed to do this weekly? What page of the handbook was THAT on? (Wait...where's my handbook...?) :)

I don't actually wash the sheets that often. The kids go to bed clean, so unless they're sick or sweating a lot at night, I don't see a reason to wash the sheets every week.

Do they go to bed clean? Then yes, twice month is fine. We do about once a month with Kiddo's sheets. And we always wash them after he's been ill. Pillows, too, then.

I'm with Penny-- it didn't come in the manual with the kid!

uh - bimonthly? I've never understood more than once a week... If people are naked and having sex, sure. But when someone is sleeping in pj's, unless it hot summertime, I don't see how the actual sheets get that dirty. Pillow case yes. But sheets no. So in our house, every 2 weeks.

eh....I don't wash their sheets very often, truthfully.
I wash their pillow case once or twice a week, but their actual sheets get washed about once a month. (unless they have been sick)

More than once a week to me is too much unless they peed on them. That's waisting water doing it more than that.

My kids take baths right before they go to bed. Unless they are having accidents, their sheets don't get washed more often than once a month.

Yes, I'd give up one some of the sheet washing. It will help you find balance with your new load.

As need here. I have a family of 10...that's a lot of laundry without throwing in all of the bedding. The older kids wash their own whenever they feel the need. I try for at least monthly with the younger ones, but sometime a little bit more then that during the summer.

I AIM for once per week.
Sometimes it's two weeks.
Nightly showers and AC makes any more gran that a waster of time, effort and soap and water, IMO.

We wash them once a week at most, usually every two weeks. DD has a bath and goes to bed in clean jammies nearly every night. We wash her pjs more than some people, but her sheets are not washed as often. Accidents are of course an exception and by the time they need them washed more often, they are old enough to help, IMO.

I wash the sheets once a month. I use non-toxic laundry detergent and dry them on a high setting. During the summer, one of my kids tends to sweat at night. I wash her sheets once a week in the summer months.

I wash the pillow cases more often.

Ha Ha Ha - every few months. I change their pillow cases all the time, but the sheets - ha ha ha. If there was an accident, of course, but in general, I don't have that kind of time.

I wash them about once or twice per month. They aren't stinky and sweaty like adults when they go to bed so I'm okay with that.

I though you were nuts, talking about washing sheets twice a week...and then I read your SWH.

Honestly, since my kids are only 2 and 7 and don't really sweat yet, generally go to bed clean, and don't wet the bed (well, one's still in diapers) sheets on my bunk bed go for 3 weeks, sometimes. Shhh, don't tell my mom.

I'm kinda OCD about this. I do wash mine at least once a week. I love the smell of clean sheets. My kids take a bath every night before bed and in the morning a shower. I like to go to bed clean and I like a shower to wake me up so I think Ive passed it on to them too.

I always did them once a week, nothing better than clean, fresh sheets.
Beds get stinky if you dont wash the bedding on a regular basis.
