Our dryer just broke down and our washing machine is also nearing the end, so we need to buy a new set this weekend. I'm looking for some recommendations on HE front or top loading washing machines. I've heard some pros/cons of both. Also, what brands would you recommend. We usually have more time to decide on an expensive purchase, but this one is kind of rushed. Thanks for your help:)

We just bought a new washer and dryer for our house - front loaders - my husband researched these like mad and we decided on Bosch after reading reviews and talking to salespeople about the comparisons (as well as looking at Consumers Reports) - very quiet, they have quality interiors and are made in the USA (not mandatory, but I thought a nice aspect of the purchase). They are 15% off at Sears right now - I shopped around at all the major appliance stores and Sears prices beat Lowes, although if we had gone back to Lowes with the written invoice, they probably would have matched or done better by 10%

Hi if you have a little time check out the consumer reports website. They rate everything and tell you the best performers and ones that have the fewest repairs needed.

We've been married 30 years and just 5 years ago, replaced our Sears Kenmore dryer, so I would highly recommend one. Also, our 2 washers have been Kenmore also, although we had to replace that after about 16-17 years. We also found when we built this house 3 years ago that you can get more features on a Kenmore for the same price as others, so the fridge, stove, and microwave are also Kenmore, and we love them!!
Also, they have a sale right now with 20% off. If I had to replace my washer right now, though, I would definitely get one of the new front load ones. They are so much more efficient cleaning the clothes as well as using less water and detergent. They cost more, but in the long run, they really don't. Good Luck in your search!!
