Wanting to Start Mom's Fitness Group

Hi Ladies!

Okay so I always hear of moms going to work out at the Santa Monica stairs and it working miracles on their mom bods. I live in Encino...and with twins it's too hard to drive to Santa Monica...much less leave the house!!!

I was at Universal Studios a while back and remember those crazy stairs by the GIANT escalator near the back lot. Anyone know of these? So anyway, I want to see if there are any mommies wanting to set up a once a week thing where we climb those dreaded stairs and maybe walk around Universal for a while to tire out the kids! My babies are far from walking but it seems like a safe place cause there are no cars!

I have never really worked out in my life and if I don't have people to be accountable to I never will. I really need to though...my hot tubby twin bod really wants to wear my old cloths again!

I am 28 and a sahm so I am pretty flexible with the timing.

Oh by the way. You buy 1 day at Universal and get the year free. Plus there is a parking pass you can buy for free parking till 6pm for the duration of your pass. DOn't know the prices off hand. Maybe we could get a group deal.

Anyone interested. Frankly, I'm not really interested either!! But I NEED to do something and maybe it won't be SOOO miserable if their are other supportive woman looking for the same goal!

PS- If you gave birth yesterday and already have a totally hot bod...don't respond. If I saw you I would throw myself down the huge stairs and my kids really want me around!!

What can I do next?

Hi,

You might want to look into "Moms in Motion" thay have groups all over. I used to attend the one in Griffith Park the girl who runs it is great her name is Lucie. They meet currently on ____@____.com run/walk for an hr. then do toning and have a discussion after. I loved it and I live in Venice! I had to discontinue because my son now has therapy on Sat morning. I wish there was one in my area. But go on www.momsinmotion.com and look it up. You get a session free to see if you like it!

Hi H.:

I am also a mom to 2 beautiful children - Michael who will be 3 in August and Brianna who just turned 1 in April. I live in Sylmar and I am totally in. I am also struggling with my weight. I can't seem to lose any of it. Having the kids back to back didn't allow time for my body to adjust so I believe that is the biggest struggle.

You know aside from Universal, there is also Balboa Lake, we can walk the boardwalk and also let the children play as well. Just sharing my thoughts.

Let me know what you come up with.

Anyways

I would be interested. I live in Simi Valley so it is a little bit of a drive for me but I think it would be fun to meet some other moms and get some exercise outdoors.

I love the stair idea by the way but I don't know how we would do it with the kids. If we could map out some spots to run/walk that have hills that might work. I saw a website once that tells you walking trails if you type in the zip code you are in. I should try to re-locate that site.

Please keep me posted on what you decide to do. My email is ____@____.com

I'd be interested in hearing what you decide! I live in San Fernando (the city) and Universal might be a bit far for me to go, but Lake Balboa might be a good meeting place. I love your sense of humor! I have an 8 month old little guy and I am definitely in need of more exercise...if I can get motivated to do it. Grr.

Hi H.,

Its funny but my daughter has the same initials as your name spelled a little differently her name is Hailey T. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that there is program and inexpensive too called http://gymwithoutwalls.com/ and they have specific programs for moms like stroller classes (fitness class with the kids) and they have other outdoor activities from Novice to Experienced. Don't give up!!!! I was in the fitness business teaching aerobics, personal training etc and life threw me a loop 2 kids and bed rest with my pregnancies etc... my kids are 4 and 5 now and it took me about 2 years to get back to my size and stay there. I'm 33 years old and the pounds don't come off as easily but they sure stay on there easily. You just have to commit yourself and think of the real reason why your keeping fit. My motivation is to be an example for my kids, I don't want added problems like diabetes and hypertension and of course lose the weight and feel good about myself. Mentally it was a long road for me.. to stick with it. Before the kids it was all about my schedule and I couldn't figure it out.. my career, husband, kids, me time and friends. How do I pack it all in and keep my sanity. It can be done.
Good Luck

J. T

I'm interested in joining you. I have a 9 month old daughter and live in encino. There are also some great hikes around the valley that we could do with strollers which may be logistically easier to do than the stairs. Please email me ____@____.com.
