Has anyone had any experience with either learning system? I want to purchase one for my 4 yo for Christmas. Other than the Leap pad being more expensive and harder to find they seem like the same thing. Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! The Leap pad is sold out in most places. Its ridiculous what they are charging on Amazon and shame on Amazon for letting them. I refuse to pay that much. I will probably just get the Vtech. I thought the Vtech took pictures also.

I don't have any personal experience but I have been reading up on both of these items because I will be purchasing the Innotab for my 3yr old. From what I have read, the Innotab is a much better deal and has a lot more options such as being able to download movies and music. The discs that you buy for them have 3 games vs the LeapFrog only having one per book. At Toys R Us right now, the Innotab is on sale for $79.99 and it includes the carrying case.

I am not sure about your local area, but the Leapfrog pad is sold out everywhere where I live. People are desperate to find one and can't! Amazon has them for over $100 more than the price they use to because they know people will pay for them if they want them bad enough.

I've had the same question. It seems like Leap Pad is more expensive but has a bigger display screen, it has a camera and video camera and has more apps available. The reviews say the package is annoying to open and setup takes a long time. It does not play mp3s.

Innovo has a smaller screen and is $20 less, but it has less apps. It's supposed to be easier to use and they are making more apps. It does play MP3s

So I will probably go for Leap, maily because of the picture and video capability and bigger screen. But really who knows what's best!

I don't use either: I use the LeapFrog Tag Reading system and I love it.
It says its geared to 3-5 years. The stories are not "too young" and when you download the audio, the pen will hold up to 10 books. So far it's been a great purchase- 12 books plus the pen for under 50$. Great buy.

I found a video on youtube with a side by side comparison for them and personally decided to go with the Innotab because of the fact that it has the mp3 player and you can download pictures and movies on it. Here's a link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9vAo1ZRzDI&feature=pl... They are pretty similar, she just stated that it depends on what features are more important to you. The innotab is larger, the leappad takes pics, there's the price difference and the number of apps and such. Hope you find the one you want!
