Vitamins to Boost Kids Immune System

Because of this "wonderful" economy, I need to go back to work full time. This means putting my baby and son into full-time daycare. Last time my son was in daycare, he was sick, literally, all the time. I was constantly having to take him to the doctor. I will not have that luxury this time around to be always available, now that I will be working. I am concerned that my little girl will get sick a lot too. What kind of homeopathic or vegan vitamins are there that I can help my children not be so sick from daycare? I am in need of vitamins that do not contain gelatin for religious purposes. Thanks.

Hi CS, my kids have taken a daily multi-vitamin (the chewy gummy bears) and Omega 3 (chewy, gummy fish or stars I think) for as long as I can remember. My 9 yo is in 4th grade and has only missed 2 days of school...ever...and my 6 yo has alergies but has never been "sick". Maybe I'm lucky, but we don't do anything special besides that. Good luck to you!

I would without hesitation encourage you to take one of the pediatric herbalism classes at http://www.inspiredabq.com. Next one is in March. The teacher also gives a full day course that is well worth the investment. I think her next one is Feb 21st. There's info posted here:
http://www.bodymindandspiritabq.com/calendarnews/0109.htm

Diet is also hugely important. Look into real foods probiotics in the form of homemade yogurt, kefir and cultured vegetables. Having a strong, healthy gut is half the battle in fighting many common illnesses!

I've been using Isagenix's Isamune, a colostrum spray that's easy to take (spray into your mouth) and tastes good. My kids haven't been sick in I don't know how long. It's free of herbicides, pesticides, hormones, BST, and BSE.

Check it out at www.dgcleanse.com. Click on Products/Nutrition/Isamune to get more info.

The best way to boost the immune system is to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. My pediatrician told me about Juice plus 4 years ago. It is 17 fruits and vegetables in either a capsule, chewable or gummy. They are kosher - no gelatin. My husband and I now take it also. We get sick less often and when we do get sick we get better faster. If you want more info, go to Lisayjuiceplus.com

Hi - Jenny notified me about your request for healthier vitamins for children. Teach your children to wash their hands. Reduce their consumption of sugar and dairy products to start. Use probiotics.

I'm an Independent Distributor with Neways International. They've been around for over 20 years making safer, natural products. I've been taking VMM (tablets) for several years to help with my immune system. It is rare that I get sick. The company has liquid Junior Max for children. Maximol Solutions for older children/adults.

If you go to my website, www.ineways.com/lwo (my initial in lower case L-W-O) you can search the products & read up on them. I have my site set up so that everyone buys at wholesale prices. There is a 30 day money back guarantee.

If you'd like to call ###-###-####) me or e-mail (____@____.com) me we can go over more information in detail. The majority of their products are animal-free.

Thank you. L.

I can suggest you ask your pediatrician as they can offer you the best advice on this matter, mine prescribed a wonderful multivitamin for my kids.
On the plus side, it doesnt seem like it at the moment but when my girls were young they were in daycare also, they were exposed to every "cootie" and germ alive but my silver lining now is that they are in 8th and 2nd grades they have never missed a day of school from being sick!

A "classical" homeopath will help you find your childrens' constitutional remedy. Once you find a good match, the remedy will help the immune system strengthen itself. Not that they will never get sick, but it will be more infrequent. Our homeopath is very resonable, compared to mainstream doctors and she will do phone consultations. I also use Natures Plus Animal Parade Multi - they are vegetarian & my kids love them and a chewable acidophilus that I get from Hi-Health. Any time you put a bunch of kids together they will get sick sometimes, but you can lower the frequency.

There are some good immune booster vitamins available at New Frontier's and the like. But equally important is the health of the digestion system. Most of your immune system is produced in your gut. So, a good pro-biotic is key, and also rubbing castor oil on her tummy can help boost her immune system by up to 30% as well. I'm sure you'll get other suggestions as to specific brands and whatnot, but it's important for the gut to remain healthy. And if you're still breastfeeding, that is probably the biggest thing you can do to help her immune system. Good luck!

Hi CS,
Have you thought about getting an Au Pair instead of using daycare? It can be less expensive (about $316 per week, including everything) than daycares. You would have to have an extra bedroom because the au pairs live with you for one year. But the nice thing is your children would be in their own home! Our Au Pairs are very capable as they are trained and they go through a backround check. THis nonprofit company has been doing this for 30 years and is one of the top au pair companies. If you want to talk to me about it, I am the Local Coordinator in the East Valley.
