VITA MIX Help

I want to buy a vita mix but overwhelmed by all the choices on their website. I already have a Ninja that I bought two years ago but I hate it because it's so loud. I have seen demo's and they seem to be considerably quieter. Can anyone that might have one give me offer me any advice what one to get.

What can I do next?

We repair Vitamix blenders for one of our commercial customers (a smoothie chain). The only way a Vitamix is quiet (and even then, it's not quiet), is if you get the type that can be encased in the clear plastic shroud. That dampens the sound somewhat, but it's not going to be quiet if you're blending anything hard (like ice cubes). Part of what makes a good blender a good blender is its speed and power - and you have to sacrifice sound for those two things.

That being said, even though we have many, many Vitamix blenders sitting fully repaired in our shop, we have a Ninja on our kitchen countertop. For the price, you can't beat it, in my opinion.

I love mine because there aren't any chunks in anything I make. But it is loud, can't hear anything till it's done.

I have the newest professional series 750. Of all the Vitamix choices, this one is the least noisy.

It is not what you would consider quiet, but the sound is not as loud as one of the older models I had previously.

I can't compare it to the Ninja because I haven't ever heard one in operation.

Even with the noise, I love my Vitamix and am very happy with it and all that it does.

We have the moderately-priced (as far as Vitamixes go) 5200 model and it works fine. I wouldn't spend a fortune on one, unless you're a professional chef. Honestly, it's a blender and it blends. If I had to do it over again, I'm not sure I'd spend all of that money on a Vitamix.

The Vitamix isn't particularly quiet, BTW. We still have to stop TV shows when it's running because you can't hear the TV.

What are you grinding up that is so difficult to puree in a traditional blender or food processor? I have one of each and although they aren't all that quiet, I only use them for 15-30 seconds at a clip. I make a lot of gazpacho, quiches (doing cheese and vegetables), and my son makes all kinds of green smoothies in a typical $25 Osterizer blender with about 12 speeds. I can't imagine spending $100 or $250 on a fancy Vitamix or similar machine. Maybe I'm missing something with all the super-pulverizing but it seems like a huge fad that just makes money for the appliance companies and doesn't give you a huge advantage. I'll be interested to read all the comments.

we have a blendtec, but my mumsie got the vitamix which is pretty comparable (i prefer hers.)
there's no comparison between the vitamix and the ninja. the mega-blenders are loud. if you hate noise, don't get 'em. but if you want your food thoroughly and professional pulverized and aren't afraid of turning off the tv or stopping a conversation for a few seconds, get one.
i use mine every single day. sometimes multiple times. it is the one kitchen appliance i will never again go without.

I bought a Vitamin which I gave to my daughter. It cost around $250 at Costco a few years ago. I'm sorry I bought it. It's loud and it's hard to remove the food from the jar. I bought a Ninja for about $50 and have only used the smoothie jar once. My kitchen has become too crowded to make using it possible.

My daughter like the Vitamin but wouldn'T spend the money to buy one. It sits on her counter but yet she seldom uses it.
