Hello Moms,

We are thinking about going to Virginia Beach for a family vacation. My daughter is 10, and all other kids in family that would go are older than her.
Would you recommend visiting Williamsburg? Is Busch Gardens worth the $?
Any thoughts (good or bad), along with recommendations of where to stay, are appreciated!

Thank you :)

We did a long weekend in Virginia Beach over spring break this year and we ALL (me, SO and DS-7) loved it. DS says it was his favorite vacation (and we've been to WDW twice in the last three years)!

It depends on what you guys like doing. I like to feel relaxed on vacation, so we stuck with Virginia Beach itself, but if your family LOVES theme parks, do it. There are lots of hotels right along the boardwalk... I'd definitely stay in one of those rather than somewhere in town... being able to walk out the door onto the beach is really a plus. I think we stayed at the Fairfield, which was great. We had a little suite so DS had his own space and breakfast is included every day (which certainly adds up as you vacation with more people).
-Rent a bike surrey and tour the beach front.
-Rent fishing poles and see what you can catch off of the pier.
-Fly kites on the beach when (if) it cools off in the evening.
-Hang out on the beach (that's why you're there)
-Go to the Aquarium (definitely do this... is a nice one)
-Take the boat cruise from the Aquarium
-Rent kayaks or paddle boards and paddle around.
-Eat seafood

DS is asking to go back, so it's probably in our not to distant future. I'd do Williamsburg with him but ONLY because its along the drive home for us... Depending on how long your planning to be in VB, I don't know if it's worth it to spend travel time getting to another city... but maybe it is for you guys... I've never been to Williamsburg but I've wanted to since I was about 9 (American Girl dolls had a whole thing there for the new Felicity doll around that time) but SO grew up here and has been a million times and hates it... go figure.

we just got back from there a couple weeks ago. We go at least once a year if not more. We stay with family though. There is the aquarium there which is nice. We also went to ocean breeze water park and we had a blast (although it is expensive). Of course there is the beach and the boardwalk. Williamsburg is nice. We didn't go into the area where you have to pay to get in. We just went to the town and had lunch and walked around the shops and got ice cream. It's super cute there!
Have fun!

My sister took her 11 and 10 year old to Busch Gardens last week and they loved it, but it is expensive. They got the Busch Gardens/Water Country 2 day pass. I don't have the savings code with me right now, but if you want a code from Wendy's fast food, private message me and I can get you the code. I think it's $39 off a two park pass. I was thinking about Virginia Beach for my family, but I didn't think there was enough to do for my 4 year old. She likes rides and games, not so much the beach. If you go to visitvirginiabeach.com, they have a kid activities section.

My kids LOVE Busch Gardens and we typically go once a year, but skipped this year. I go online to Busch Gardens and get the 7 day pass for all 3 places (BG, Water Country USA, and Williamsburg) and it's very affordable, in my book.

It is about 90 minutes or so from the beach, so prepare for the trip if you are staying near the beach.
