My family will be relocating to the Sterling Heights/Detroit area in the fall and I am looking for a violin teacher for my 4yr old daughter. She will turn 5 in May but she has been playing since November.

What can I do next?

We were with Suzuki Royal Oak for three years but left because our teahcer decided to stop teaching there and teach on her own. You may want to stay away from Suzuki Royal Oak, since the parents get charged an arm and a leg, but the owner Mark Mutter, keeps so much of the per hour rate that he barely pays the teachers anything. Thus, they are not able to keep any professional teachers on staff. We live in Sterling Heights, and our two children study with a professional violinist and suzuki teacher in Royal Oak, whose fabulous! We recommend her highly. It takes us about 30 minutes to drive to Royal Oak, but it's worth it. You can find out more about her on these two websites: (You have to copy and paste the links below.) http://www.privatelessons.com/daypoint/media/editbio.asp?...

I am a piano teacher that teachers a method somewhat similar to Suzuki. I don't know anyone in the area though that's teaching Suzuki. RO is a bit of a hike for you. I'd check online and see if there's a Suzuki association listing perhaps?

I have checked into it and searched quite a bit for the lessons. I found that Wilson's violin shop in Birmingham has an instructor who teaches Suzuki. They have other instructors, but only one teaching the method. I learned this way as well and want my son to do the same. I think that it teaches them in the best way and helps them along later with school as well.

The best direction I can point you in is to contact Mark Mutter at the Suzuki Institute in Royal Oak. The Suzuki method is the best way to begin children at such a young age. Mr. Mutter's contact information is as follows: ____@____.com.
