Victoria's Secret Bras.....?

Can someone tell me what the big deal is with V.S. bras that makes them so expensive? Is it just cuz of the big name brand on them? I've always bought mine at either Kohl's or Target and they seem just fine to me. It's not like V.S. has gold plated metal things, right? Are they actually made any differently? To me a bra is a bra. I would love to hear everyone's answers.

No a bra is not a bra is a bra....

VS bras have "lift" that many bras don't have. Some are made with spandex and cotton...they have a wide variety, colors and styles...I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Bio-fit line...I'm a 38DD and love the support and LIFT I get with that line.

Some bras are what the "old timers" used to say an "over the shoulder boulder holder" - wide elastic straps that cut into the shoulders, cups that made breasts more like torpedoes...

Wait until they go on sale and buy them then. If you wash them properly - they last for years...

worth every penny. I don't treat mine right....I wash them in the regular cycle of the washing machine...and they last at least a year or a couple of years. any cheaper bra that i've bought makes it 2 washes before the wire pops through.

I love VS bras!! Well worth the price tag in my opinion. I am a 34D and find the comfort level and support are superior to any other bra I have ever worn.

I am a larger size (34D) and to me a bra is not a bra. It is a very important purchase and can be difficult to find a good fit, comfort and support all in one bra. I had a couple of VS Angel bras that lasted for years. I'm not so much into the "pretty" aspect, but sometimes it is nice to find a larger size bra that doesn't look like something my grandma wears. As for the price, I end up paying a lot for a good bra no matter what brand I buy so that isn't really a factor. I like them and will buy them again; I just haven't been into a VS store lately.

Amen, Cindy L. A bra is not a bra for me, and I enjoy wearing a heavy-duty bra that is also pretty. (I was in the 34DD drawer for a while. Now, I can't shop there, anymore, because I have gone up to H. That's another story because it all seems very random.) My breasts don't feel too big, but they have always been HEAVY, so Target and Walmart have never been options. Even when I was just getting started, my mother turned me off to "flimsy" (sorry if it's offensive) bras, emphasizing support, support, support. VS allowed me to wear the pretty sets that I coudn't get from just anywhere.

People with small feet and small frames and small boobs, etc., don't necessarily have to understand the difference in how certain things are made because their stuff isn't "tested" in the same way. If your feet are big, the cheapness of a shoe is more noticeable, to others and to your feet. If your feet are tiny, you can get away with a cheap shoe and might not even realize it yourself. That's just an example. If my bra is not well-made to handle this stuff over here, EVERYBODY knows it before I even leave my house.

I have the Body by Victoria, I have about 3 of them... have had them for almost 8 years and they are still in wonderful condition. All the other bras from cheap stores, the wire pokes out quickly and stab me, or they twist weird or dry funny, the prongs bend, they get dingy looking fast... I would end up paying more in that 8 year time span on replacing junky cheap bras. I'm an average size, and I love my Victoria Secret bras because they are also comfortable, and actually fit correctly, so it's worth it to me. As for larger breasted women, I have no idea how they hold up for that. Another good thing though, is they also look great under tight shirts, no weird bows/lacey ruffles/odd seams to make it look bumpy under clothing.

I regularly pay $40-$60 for bras. As a 36G, those cute little things you can buy in most stores aren't cutting it for me, I need some serious architecture :). So the idea of paying real money for a bra doesn't phase me, but I can't figure out Victoria' s Secret either.

VS bra's last forEVER, they're so much better made and more comfortable (in my opinion)... now their panties, they're expensive just because of the name.

VS will also let you exchange any bra that doesn't match your expectations, for example, I had one for about a year and the underwire popped out. It was a $60 bra! I took it to the store, they asked how I washed it (to make sure it wasn't my fault, is my guess), then let me get the same one for nothing in exchange for the defective one.

I also used to have HUGE boobs on my tiny frame (pre-kids)... theirs were the only bras that made my back feel better. The cheaper bras actually left indentions on my clavicles (which is permanent) from the weight of my chest. My doctor actually recommended either a breast reduction or go to VS to get fitted... the bra makes all the difference!

I only have a few bra's, but almost all of them are VS :)

They are the only bras I can stand. The cheap ones fall apart too quickly.

I know for smaller women it doesn't matter, heck some women don't really need to wear a bra, for me I need something that will hold um up.

They are the only bras I can find that don't let them hang low. They are very well made, that is why I pay for them. :)

Just going to throw this out there I am 34DD. I am going to bet the larger ladies are going to say worth the money. I can't even find 34DD in the cheap stores and if I do they look like something my mom would wear.

I agree with Oprah, that most women are wearing the wrong bra size. It's worth going to Nordstrom or maybe VS to get properly fitted. If you go to Target you may not be buying the right size.

Quality matters, too. I bought a $50 sports bra at Nordstrom 6 years ago (a Donna Karan), and it STILL works great. My expensive bras last longer, and feel better.

But -- I've heard that there are some really good bras at Target, too, so it's not always necessary to spend a lot.

Its quality, hands down.

I actually always buy my bras from VS/La Senza (Same company), as despite the fact that they can be 60ish for a bra they more than often have some AMAZING sales to save you from spending quite that much.

I just went on Tuesday and they have a "Buy one get one 1/2 off!" sale on bras, invested in a $40 bra (LOOOOVE), and got one for $20 (YES!). So that's $60 for two!

My boobs are just so comfy now. c: What a treat!

By the way, JC Penney has a line called "Ambrielle" that is just as nice as VS. Lots of fancy colors, matching panties, some very sexy stuff. I don't think the VS stuff is better quality, just much prettier to look at. VS is just too expensive for everyday bras for me. Although I have occasionally bought stuff there.

since having my first child I have been buying Maidenform, Target, etc. Last month had a coupon and went to VS. OMGosh! what a difference. I just got a regular "t-shirt" bra and it was incredible. It holds the girls differently (better) and it is the only one I really want to wear. I plan on heading back as soon as christmas is over and stocking up on these. Mind you no padding, and it only cost $29 when I was there and I had a $10 off a bra purchase. Well worth it - name or no name!

Yep the brand name.....The bio fit bras are fantastic but I find that they don't last any longer then let's say a bra by Warners or Playtex. While I love Victoria's secret I rarely shop there unless a sale...I certainly can't bring myself to pay $40+ for just A BRA! LOL!

I love VS bras and even some of their clothes. The fit, the feel they are so much more comfortable than any other bra that I have bought, whether it be Playtex or any other company. Of course I buy when there is a sale. I have ones that I have bought on clearance for as low as $15. I was lucky enough last year during the Secret Rewards time, which they do in the spring and fall, I got a $100 off! To me they are well worth the money!

I have to concur with the other ladies.
I tend to spend $50-60/bra, whether VS (I LOVE the Incredible bra) or other.
I'm a 36D and I need something quality to hold the girls up, not create "back fat" and give me a nice shilhouette.

I've had cheapo bras from target and stuff while preggo and the girls were regularly changing size. They barely made it through the pregnancy.
You definitely get what you pay for in this area!

Not sure what every one else has said but ever since my first kid they r the only one well certain ones are the only ones that hold and hide or just hold in general without to much separation or pointing or anything but then again its been hard to find a decent 38 D almost DD as a 36 C I could wear almost anything and enjoyed it now its 50 bucks give or take for 1 but its well worth it long as I can get 2 they will last me a couple of years at least

I used to feel the way you do, until I needed a strapless bra for an event and went to VS for a proper fitting. Let me tell you, I'm now a VS girl! They do offer sales and I've gotten the buy one get one 1/2 off deal frequently. I find the cut, feel, and overall fit of the VS bra to be superior to any cheap Target one. And, I just feel better about myself. I say go and get fitted there and try one out! You'll love them!

They are one of the few brands that have 30 around in my size. Other brands cost WAY more. I'm happy with the quality, actually. They are really comfortable and have lasted a ling time. I'm really small framed with a larger cup size (compared to my body) and they are the ONLY ones that don't cut into my shoulders and back.

When I could afford it I always got vs bras. There is a difference in my opinion. They hold up and last longer than any walmart bra. Too bad im stuck in walmart bras :(

I buy high end bras (at least, IMO) at Herbergers (Macy's) and pay about 80-90 dollars for a bra. I love those bras, and they in no way compare to VS bras. I have not had a good experience with VS. Even when I was a B cup, I never found anything that "did" much for me. Even in my early 20's, I never thought they were great bras; just sexy and brand name. Now that I'm in my mid-30's with three kids, I still tend to agree. It's been a few years since I've tried them on, but even with a fit expert, I never seemed to find one that actually supported me the way I wanted it to.

In my experience it doesn't matter if the bra is VS or Walmart. What matters is that you replace it about every six months when it starts to lose it's eslasticity.

I think name brand products always cost more, and can be worth it. As a 34A I feel more sexy and look better. That's worth it to me.
