Riley J.................. YES, Some people CAN be 100% that their child has NOT been molested. OMG! I understand what you are saying, but that was not really needed. She is with her child all of the time and is worried about her health. I know for a FACT that my 2 older daughters who were with me all of the time until they started kindergarten were NEVER molested, and I knew it back then too. There would have been NO way for it to happen. I was always around, and they didn't sit still for 2 seconds, OR sit on anyone's lap. Like I said, I get it, but it seems like there are days when some of the responses on here are SO off. Just sayin.

my dd just had a urinary tract infection dr said she had blood and pus in her urine, i saw the sample as well and while it was maybe "cloudy" it just looked like pee to me, so you can't see anything #1.

I know my dr did an in the office test and then also sent the sample away to the lab, so if they did that you will get more info.

Look at it this way, at least now you will have an answer to this and will be able to get her help.

my first thought on reading this was bladder infection. easy to get if she's dehydrated, sat in a bubble bath too long and didn't rinse well.

try not to worry until the results are in. hopefully the dr. gave you some type of medicine or instructions that would start the healing process.

first thing that came to my mind was a uti as well. My daughter had one when she was about 3 and she had a little bit of blood in her urine as well. Im surprised they even talked about molestation without seeing if the antibiotics worked first. Does she complain of any burning when she pees?

this is a fairly common thing don't get all worked up yet. It could be a kidney infection, it could be because she is exploring and has scratched herself. she could be slightly dehydrated. many reasons for it. don't panic till you get through the antibiotics and have her rechecked.

I wouldn't worry so much. UTI's are fairly common in young girls for a number of reasons (improper wiping technique is number one...make sure she's wiping front to back...and secondly, bubble baths are a NO NO!) and if left untreated it can turn into a kidney infection. Blood can be present in the urine in both cases, but you wouldn't be able to see it either way.

I suffer from kidney stones, which also causes blood to be present in my urine. I doubt at her age she has kidney stones, however.

Preventative measures would include having her drink lots of water, some cranberry juice, and really making sure she isn't soaking in the tub for half and hour in soap and making sure she's wiping properly. At the age of four, I was still supervising my daughter's baths and bathroom trips, however. I did not stop doing that until she was five.

And I agree with someone else...molestation didn't even come to mind until you mentioned it.

First of all, you did the right thing by taking her to the Dr. Make sure you do follow up with the urologist.

Like others have said, the naked eye cannot necessarily see blood in urine.

I don't understand why molestation would come to your mind... it never crossed my mind.

The first thing I thought about was UTI, bladder infection, kidney infection. Blood in urine is very common with those and most of the time antibiotics will clear it up.

You were referred to the urologist just to confirm everything is ok because that is his/her speciality.

Don't spend your time with worry because that helps no one. Follow the Dr. orders and my bet is that when you go back, she will be clear. If not, you have already started the correct course of action.

The amount of blood is microscopic. Usually, they will just say blood - but what they usually mean is that she tested "present" for white or red blood cells, usually indicating an infection.

Wait and see what the urologist says.,

Blood in the urine most often isn't visible to the naked eye but tests will confirm or rule it out as they did in your daughter's case. We never saw blood in my Dad's urine but it was there for years when it was tested. And trust me, if they assumed your daughter had been molested she would be being interviewed by Child Protective Services and possibly the police right now, doctors are mandated reporters.

At this point i would advise you not to worry, give her every dose of antibiotics as prescribed and take her back in 2 weeks as requested for follow-up. Her urologist is the best person to ask what could be going on with her, given that she's been prescribed antibiotics I'm guessing they feel there's an infection of some sort present, which can cause the blood (sometimes referred to as "protein," which it is) in her urine.

Praying the antibiotics clear up whatever is going on, God bless.

untreated uti's can turn into kidney infections. the antibiotics will help. to keep her free of future uti's make sure she wears all cotton underwear, the toilet paper you use is unscented, has no colors, and is not fluffy fibered, that she rinses well between the legs after a bath, and that she wipes from front to back (this goes for both potty time and with her bath towel when drying). make sure she gets lots of water and throw in some cranberry juice for good measure. good luck!

My daughter battled with this too around the age of four. Her urine always came back with blood in it (not visible but positive according to their tests) and super high concentrations (meaning she wasn't drinking enough). We ended up getting various scans, but we never came up with everything. There was one point, I was positive she passed a kidney stone. Never figured it out, they ended up just chalking it up as leaky kidneys. She's nine and we're up to do a urine test again, but so far nothing has really come out of it. I also make sure she drinks as much as I can get down here.

I thought kidneys or possibly diabetes. Go see the urologist and they may refer for some blood work. Being worried is natural, you are her mother, but dont go crazy about it. No matter what it is, you will get to the bottom of it and you will get help.

My daughter had something like this when she was that age. Her bladder had not quite developed for her age. We did all the tests and had them pump water in the bladder and watch it via x-ray to make sure all was going well. A little while after that visit with the specialist all became well. A few years later maybe because of wiping wrong she had a bad infection that resulted in a hospital stay for 3 days.

Just try to think positive and worry a little less. I know easier said than done but try to be at ease and know that the doctors are trying to find out what is causing this.

There could be a lot of reasons - some are fairly trivial and some are fairly serious.
You are seeing a doctor and they are looking into it.
(I had no idea aspirin could cause a little blood to end up in urine.)
Antibiotics to me means they think it's an infection (of kidneys/bladder/etc) and they are seeing if the medicine clears it up.

How much water does she drink? If a child is perpetually dehydrated, it can cause crystals to form in the kidneys, which can cause the bleeding. Talk to the doctor about how much liquid, and in what form, your daughter should be drinking. Don't guess at this - it's important that you not over-hydrate her.

Other than that, I don't know, but it's a start...

If there's VISABLE blood in a young child's urine you don't get a referral... You get admitted into the hospital. What the scopes see are concentrations too low for the human eye... Which still indicate a problem (kidney infection usually). Kidney infections often start as UIs, then the infection travels up the urethra, bladder, ureters, and then wham on the kidneys.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but molestation IS possible, unless you daughter has never been around anyone other than yourself. A pedophile can easily do a finger insertion through the leg of a diaper in full view of everyone in the room and no one can tell. Much less if you've ever had overnight guests, gone to preschool/MDO, santa, birthday parties, etc. When molestation can happen right in front of you and you can't see it, much less 5 minutes out of your sight to hours... You can never be 100% Highly unlikely, but not 100%

Blood in the urine comes from many different things. In adults, well even some kids, it can be a kidney stone. It could be a simple infection too. There are all kinds of explainable reasons.

Blood in the urine does not show up to the eye, it shows up under a microscope. It is that minuscule.

I would google reasons for blood to be in a child's urine and go from there.
