Vegas for Kids and Older Grandparents

My husband has a conference in Vegas at the end of this month and my parents are coming to Vegas to watch our 2 1/2 year old at night. I need some activities for during the day that I can do with my daughter and my parents that are relatively inexpensive and don't require a lot of travel time to get there and a lot of constant walking around. My parents are 81 and 74 and both have bad knees so their ability to walk long distances or all day is limited. I was hoping there are some great places to go sightseeing for an hour or two and then grab lunch. My parents will be watching my daughter one late afternoon and then overnight so I want something fun and indoors they can do and I thought Circus Circus could be it, since I've heard good things about Circus Circus. I need something for daytime for 3 days. I've never been to Vegas and I don't know anyone that's ever went with kids. Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the advice. We are staying at the Paris, and I would of loved to have my parents come to us and leave our daughter at home with them, but since they have to fly from DC, they said they would rather go to Vegas and since we aren't paying their way and they are doing us a favor we couldn't be too picky. I don't mind if they have to take a taxi to get around the city, but I didn't want a lot of walking tours at places. Thankfully, my daughter isn't a hyper active kid so she should be okay with just taking in the sights of the shark tanks, lions and tigers.

Vegas is rough for little ones (who can't even walk through casinos) especially 2 1/2 year olds and the elderly, there's nothing to do but go see shows, and the walking around is way too much for them, for little ones and the elderly. The only thing I can think of is lounging by the hotel pool.

Sorry, my guy is 29 months and we won't go for years until he can appreciate M&M World and the all-you-can-eat buffets.
But here's a list by Vegas, com that may help you:

I went to Vegas last year for the first time and it requires ALOT of walking. Like it's ridiculous. The only kid friendly activities I saw were: The lion exhibit at MGM and the shark tank at The Luxor ( I could be wrong on this location). It might be a better option for your parents to stay home with your daughter. Good luck!

I just went to Vegas with my DH a few weeks ago. I'm sorry, but Circus Circus is really junky, cheap, and run down. We walked through just to see it, and rode the flume ride and was very, very unimpressed. I would never go back. This hotel is too far off the main part of the strip for kids and older people to comfortably walk, unless you stay right there. I would highly recommend crossing it off your list. Here is what I would do instead.

Lion Exhibit at MGM Grand
Secret Garden/small zoo at Mirage
Gondola boat ride at the Venetian
Shark Reef aquarium at Mandalay Bay
Hotel pool

These places are a good walking distance apart, it would be very challenging for younger and older, so I would pick the activities nearest your hotel, and combine that with some time at the pool. Honestly, there is not a lot of other things for little kids at all. We didn't see too many kids, most of the kids we did see were at the pool area.

Circus Circus is not the nicest hotel. Excalibur is nice and is a big castle for kids, which is fun. You can go to Circus Circus for a few hours during the day to go to the arcade and game rooms, but I wouldn't stay there. You can take the kids to see Lion King if they would like it. I absolutely loved it and there were kinds there when my husband and I went. There are kid friendly pools- Bally's pool is not a crazy one and are always kids there. If you take them downtown, The Golden Nugget has an amazing pool with a fish/shark tank in the pool and a water slide they can play on.

I can't think of two age groups worse for Las Vegas!! Can your daughter stay home with them?? You and hubby can really enjoy the time.

I would totally skip the stores in the underground walkway. The one had photos of many celebrities shopping there. The prices were insane and many things were just awful.
There was a playground on the ground level where you could take your kids to play. Maybe someone knows. We were near the MGM and Bally's when we saw it.

If she's pretty easy going, she'll be happy there. We went to Vegas with our daughter when she was 3. She loved it! There was so much for her to look at...the white tigers at Ceasar's, the lions at MGM, the aquarium, our hotel pool, etc. Many people believe Vegas isn't the place for kids, but she had a great time. We always took her out in the stroller because this trip did require lots and lots of walking. Circus Circus is a bit out of the way...down toward the end of the strip. It is a bit run down, and cheap, but so what...a kid wouldn't notice and would still have fun.

2.5 is rough age for Vegas. I would suggest spending most of the time at the pool. Circus Circus would be overwhelming. There is a market place at the Aladin that was fun. There are tigers at the Mirage. The Aquarium is small and fairly expensive. There is a boat ride through the Luxor (I think... or Ceasars) that is easy. As for things on the strip, you do have the option of taking the bus. It's not that expensive and it goes everywhere.
