I am not yet pregnant but am planning ahead for my next child which I hope won't be till late next year! I want to find out if there are any places around here that will do a vbac after 2 c-section? I am not going to have another flippen c-section unless I have to for saftey for my baby! I want someone who will at least give it a chance! Please give me some ideas... I am doing lots of research and have found moms who gave birth after 4,5,6 and 7 c-sections with a VBAC! I like to plan and messed up and didn't do any planning with my youngest! I plan to have a few more kids and I feel like a vbac is the best idea for me. I hated the way I felt after a c-section, after the second I was in bed for near a week and half after getting out of a four day trip to the hospital... Please give me some ideas so I can start planning.

What can I do next?

I know that Dr. Blasingame at Brazos Family Practice used to do them, but she moved to New Zealand. Maybe call that practice and ask if any of the other doctors at that practice do them?

I don't believe that you'll find anyone in Brenham.

It really just depends on your Dr. and how he feels. My suggestion to you is that you interview Drs, Doulas, Midwives and find one that you are comfortable with and agrees to let you try without a C-section.

Good Luck!

Definitely find your local ICAN chapter! Most have Yahoo groups. They will already know what providers in your area will be supportive of a VBAC...but be prepared to fight for your right to have a SAFE, non surgical birth.

You'll probably want to get a midwife. I don't know that there are any birth centers in the area (I live in Cypress, and the closest I know of is The Woodlands or Katy). So, that would mean a homebirth. I don't know if you've looked at homebirth at all, but it's very safe-- statistically as safe or safer than hospital births. You can look for midwives that are in the Brenham area at http://www.texasmidwives.com/findamidwife.asp?search=zc

If you're opposed to having a homebirth, you can check out http://www.ican-online.org/vbac/home and see if they have any recommendations.

i don't know. I am in the same boat. I will say that my second one was not nearly as bad as my first. Start calling is all that i can say. Be prepared for a long drive if necessary.

I would suggest finding your local ican chapter. You should be able to locate them through www,ican-online.org. The ladies there should be able to lead you in the right direction. Keep educating yourself as that is going to be your biggest asset in the hunt for a VBAC. Look into finding a doula for L&D and at home, Labor at home as long as possible and consider using a midwife and NOT an OB for your next pregnancy and birth. You can do it! I did! ;-)

I don't know the doctors/midwives in that area, but I do know in Austin it would be possible if a variety of factors are met. Those would include why you had the original c-section, type of incision, etc. I would highly recommend OB-GYN North in Austin if you are really committed to having a VBAC and are willing to travel. Good luck

Why was a csection necessary for the first two? It's possible that the same reasons will be there for the next one. I know a lot of people do have VB after csections, but be careful and make sure that you don't put yourself in danger by doing this. I'd be afraid to do a homebirth in this situation because of the possible complications. The stress of a VB could tear something, which is why they don't like you to do it. How old is your youngest? It sounds like there will be a couple of years between them, so maybe there will be enough healing time to have a VB. I personally have not had experience with this, but these are just things that came to mind from reading your posts and some of the responses. Good luck and rejoice in the fact that you can give birth, no matter which way!! I was never able to conceive, even through IVF. Luckily I now have 7 beautiful grandchildren (from my stepchildren) and have been able to experience the joy of birth through my stepdaughter. The Lords plan may not be what we expect, but he's got one for you that's for sure. Prayer may give you the answers you are looking for!

Hi there! A great friend and local resource is Kimberley Traylor, a doula/midwife/lactation consultant... ###-###-#### or www.theirbirthright.org. She is of great value and would be able to answer many questions for you. Tell her Elaine (mother of 6 girls) referred her. Blessings!
