I delivered at the Allen Birth center in Allen and it was fantastic. The midwives there are awesome and so supportive. They will intervene as little or much as you want. She was excellent during my last pregnancy and when I had complications that she could not handle, she said she would do a VBAC for me next time, and even visited me when I had my c-section. She is a wonderful midwife and has a beautiful birth center in Denton. The drive from Keller is not bad at all.

I am a local doula and finding good care providers is my one of my most common requests!! Quick update on VBAC care providers in the DFW area…there are not a ton of them unfortunately!! BUT there are a few that are strong supporters of it –and I highly recommend them for the mom who is really serious about striving for her VBAC.
Of course as others have mentioned—using a midwife is always an optimal choice for a VBAC because they don’t even bat an eye at it—they feel it’s a normal thing and not out of the ordinary!! There are midwives who do VBACS at birth centers and for Home births. There are not many who do them in the hospitals not because they don’t want to—but because hospital regulations don’t encourage it or really want it—and when they work for a hospital they have to abide by hospital rules!

Now all that said—the best and most recommend hospital to have a VBAC in the DFW area is Baylor Downtown. Personally I think this is the best hospital to have a baby at in any situation—they are very natural birth friendly, are not pushy about interventions and babies rooming-in is standard policy!!

I unfortunately also had to have an unplanned C-section with my first child. My OB explained that she would consider doing a VBAC with my next child and explained that she had one with her 2nd child. Her name is Carolyn Quist, DO ###-###-####). She is located near downtown Fort Worth. I am not sure if she supports VBACs in all cases but I know we did discuss it previously.

There is an actual birthing center here in the metroplex, but I just can't remember the name of it. They are not a hospital, only midwives, but are affiliated with a hospital that is just seconds away. I don't know anything about their procedures with VBAC, but I do have af riend who delivered two children there and absolutely loved it. You didn't mention anything about an epidural, although you did say limited intervention. Anyway, the birthing center does not have an epidural option.

i don't have a personal experience but i suggest you get on the AP dallas yahoo group and ask moms there
also contact some midwives and they would be able to give you refernces to doctors who are VBAC friendly.

I don't have any recomendations for you but have you thouhgt of using a midwife? They're much more intune with personal needs/wants and helping you through with your birth plan.
