my darling little 3 year old decided to "clean" daddy's chair and autaman with vaseline... needless to say it didn't work! i called the 800 number and the lady said use a hair drier and paper towels which got alot of excess up but theres still vaseline. so i wondered if anyone else's little house keepers had tried this and if you found any thing that worked to clean it up

What can I do next?

One thing that gets about anything out of my clothes and carpets is a product called Lestoil. I think you can buy it a Walmart. If all else fails, try this.

No idea what would remove it but if it makes you feel any better when my daughter was then 2 she decided to use about a half a container of vasoline in her hair while I was feeding the baby. After about 15 hair washes and still no progress I finally gave up. After about 2 weeks I finally noticed it was almost out of her hair. It could have been worse ! =)

I think I used cornstarch when my daughter applied it to her hair, but the following website might be more useful:

Good luck!

I would try this wonderful product called 'Greased Lightning'. It is sold in most stores, Menards, Meijer's, Lowe's...it is a general all-purpose cleaner/degreaser. I use it alot for my laundry whenever i see greasy stains or spots. Just don't buy the bleach formula, look for the regular, bleach free. Since vaseline has a grease base to it, this would probably take it out. Try it out on an inconspicous area first, to check the colorfastness of your fabric. My youngest is 3 years old, so i understand all the little messes they can un-wittingly create! :) Good luck!

E.,
You might try some goo gone, it pretty much takes up anything. I'm not sure what it does to fabric though. 409 is a good degreaser and so is LOC (made by amway) Good luck. M.

Everyone's advise is great except once all this GUNK goes through to the padding on your furniture, you're done. You'll never be able to soak it all up. Who wants that on their clothes??? I'm afraid you are either going to have to have your chair & ottoman reupholstered or will just have to buy new. How about leather or faux leather next time? LOL

Sorry, girl. Mine got into her Buttpaste once. (If you haven't heard of it ... "Buttpaste" really IS the name brand.) We had to call Poison Control & do some major cleaning action. Not fun but we've all been there. :(

dawn dishsoap. Many years ago my niece did the same thing to her dad. It may take a few washings but it will work. S.
