Can anyone recommend a vacuum cleaner they like that works on dog hair removal? Some of these models are so expensive, but yet, do they work? I'd love your feedback at what works for you? Thanks in advance!

The Dyson really works. We have a longhair dog that sheds like you wouldn't believe. A friend recommended the Dyson. We finally broke down and got one and I have been amazed at how well it works. If you watch for Bed Bath & Beyond or Linnen's N Things coupons you can actually use it and save 20% off.

Just a warning you will be amazed at how many time you have to empty it on the first go round. We're clean freaks and were amazed at what all it picked up. Especially dog hair.

Good Luck!

The Dyson animal vac is great. I did however invest in a combo steamer/vac so I am selling my Dyson. THey are about $550 new and mine was 3 months old and I would sell to you for $400 if you are interested.

A.,

I've spent thousands on different vacuum cleaners over the years. I finally convinced my husband to spend the money on a Dyson. It's so worth it! The newest purple dyson, the ball, is the best one to get. It's more manueverable, works on all flooring surfaces and is even easire to use than last yer's model.

I have 4 dogs, all long hair(on ehas black fur)and light beige carpet. I'm also allergic to dust and pet dander. The dyson is amazing and my husband loves it so much I'm not allowed to vacuum!

If you'd like to try it out, email me ____@____.com and you can come by and use it.

We have a Bernese Mountain dog with lots of long hair and we love our Dyson too. If purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond you can use a 20% off coupon. The coupons used to state not valid on Dyson but the most recent coupons I recieved in the mail do not. I also use a Pet Hair Eliminator Broom (it has rubber "teeth" and works off of static electricity) and I love it on my wood floors it picks up everything! This too can be purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond or The Container Store.

Hi A., Save some money and purchase a commercial upright vacuum. I have a Sanitaire. Not only does it get everything, there are no bags to buy, you just empty the large receptacle when you are through. It has very few plastic parts and in the 15 years I have had it, the only repairs are the belts that break about once a year.

We purchased a Fantom vac about 4 years ago. We payed $90 for it and we were shocked to see what all it pulled out of our carpets the first couple of times. It is bagless and works wonders for dog hair. We also have a black lab so I know how much hair can be lying around. I am about to purchase the new Fantom online at Fantom.com. I hope you find this helpful. Oh - You will find these more affordable than the Dyson and other top rated vacuums and they work just as well. Good Luck!

I think the first time mom guilt is somewhat normal. Please completely embrace using coupons!! Why spend more money if you don't have to??!! Go for Jolene's Dyson offer...that's a great deal for a Dyson and you won't regret it...I PROMISE!! I also had a really hard time finding peace about spending so much money on our DC-14 Animal Dyson, but I'm so thankful now that we did. We have four cats, and it not only picks up all the cat hair, but also all the litter that is tracked around the house, and it helps eliminate the cat "smell" in the house.

Eureka Maxima!!! I have 3 animals, 125 lb. lab, keeshond (thick long haired dog, and cat that is 1/2 persian). I bought it at Lowes for around $45 dollars. I searched on the internet first and found it the cheapest at Kohl's, but they had it at Lowes and they pricematch plus 10%. Also, I use the arm and hammer, pet hair release on the carpet before I vacuum. It really works for me.

Good Luck.

I have a 16 mth old little boy a cat and 2 dogs (all in the house) :-)
We bought the Windtunnel vacuum at first and it did not do the trick we then spent the extra money and bought a dyson. We have had it for almost a year now and have been exceptionally pleased. We did not splurge for the animal model but the regular model works just fine. After I vacuum we can play and I do not see one hair on the floor. I highly recommend spending the money and getting the best possible vacuum because if your baby is like mine he is all over the house putting everything in his mouth :-)

Hope that helps

We recently bought a Kenmore vacuum from Sears that works wonders on the dog hair that our blue heeler sheds by the truckloads onto our carpet. I love this vacuum because it has "Inteli-Clean", which "tells" you when the carpet is clean. Here's a link to the specific vacuum:

Kenmore Progressive Bagless Upright with Inteli-Clean System
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Vacuum+Clea...

Our old vacuum wasn't working at all and I was about to go out my mind with all the dog hair that was accumulating. At the time our daughter was just about to start crawling, and I definitely wanted to get the carpet cleaned up before she was cruising on the floor. Although our dog still sheds, I'm able to stand it now because of this tremendous vacuum. We looked into Dyson, but I think we got an EXCELLENT product at a great price with this Kenmore.

Good luck and happy vacuuming!

Dyson makes a model specifically for people with pets. We just bought a Dyson last year and it is the BEST vacuum cleaner we have ever owned. It removed so much dirt that the colors in our area rugs actually became brighter. We bought ours at Super Target.

Dyson all the way!!! i love mine. we don't have pets but my parents also bought one just the yellow basic, not the animal, anyway my dad said he found a 3rd cat in the bin!!! and that was only in the dining area!!! he went over it 3 times(emptying in between) and it got all the hair out!!! look on allbrands.com for the dyson. they have free shipping and no tax! best prices too. i did alot of research and bought the dyson ball. it is way easier to maneuver than the regular one and picked up soooo much dust we were amazed!!! good luck!!

Get a Dyson. You won't regret it! We vacuumed our house 6 times when we got it and we filled the container up each time. It was really gross to see what our other vacuum was not picking up!

We just bit the bullet and bought the Dyson DC14 Animal and it is amazing...well worth the money! Sucks up tons of hair! The only negative we have found is that on some surfaces it makes this horrible noise. I called Dyson and they said that it is the protective mechanism to keep the vacuum from sucking up something it is not supposed to- It only makes that noise on one rug that we have so overall its not a big problem.
