Grand Haven is really nice and not that far. Its on the west side of the state. Or there is always Travers City, or Mackinaw. All really food places they are just as a bit farther.
We are going to Higgins Lake. About 2 1/2 hours away. Nice, and a really beautiful lake.
Enjoy!

The Traverse City/Leelanau Peninsula area (in the 'pinky finger' of Michigan!) is just beautiful - you have Lake Michigan with sandy beaches & beautiful turquoise blue water, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Park (which is breathtaking), vineyards & wineries, great restaurants, quaint little waterfront towns - our family goes every year for the first week of July & for a long weekend in the fall & we think its the best area in Mich to vacation.

Traverse City is great and so is Michigan Adventure. The west coast of Michigan has alot of beautiful scenery. Also, Frankenmuth is great. Welcome to Michigan!!!!

Hi C.,
Our family went to Michigan Adventure Amusement Park a few years back near Muskegon. It is owned by cedar pointe but much less expensive and it has a great water park that is included in the entrance fee. We also went to the sand dunes on Lake Michigan for a dune buggy ride through the sand dunes, while we were in the area. There is also a old fashioned drive-in movie theatre there the kids had never been to one before. We had a great time and it was one of our most memorable vacations. For camping Houghton lake ,higgins lake and caseville are beautiful spots. Mackinaw Island is also a nice place to go. Welcome to Michigan.

Up North is Great! Just NOT for 4th of July weekend! Traffic is horrible both going and coming home. Traverse City is Great. We love Glen Arbor, about 30min W of Traverse City.
