What can I do next?

My son had his urine tested at about 9 months old because he was sick and it was fowl smelling. it took 3 days for the results and it was no news/good news scenerio. i would call. i do not think in any case 2 weeks is acceptable. by now whatever is/was wrong is worse or passed! good luck!

Do they have a lab at the office or do they send it out? The lab may be backed up from the holidays. I think it also depends on what your little one is being tested for. I recently had my blood sugar checked and it took almost three weeks when normally i hear back with in three days or so.Every one is sooooo sick this time of year it pushes everyone behind. But standard on tests at our office is no news is good news. Good Luck

If the test was part of the yearly check up and the results are normal they may not even contact you. Have you called the doctor?

What is the 5 yr old being tested for? One of my kids had mono and it took 2 1/2 days for the bloodwork. Depends on if it has to be sent out but 2 weeks sounds like an awful long time.

R.,

I think most doctor's do a "no news is good news" policy, so unless there was something specific you were waiting on in the results, they should be back already.

I used to work for one and most of our lab results came back within a 24-48 hour window. Unless it had to be sent to a special testing facility, then it could take 72 hours.

If you are concerned, I would suggest calling and asking for the results. Otherwise, perhaps be comforted to know everything should be okay.

Hope this helps!

I agree with the other Mom's here. It all depends on what your child is being tested for. My middle son had some bloodwork drawn a few years ago that took almost 3 weeks to come back but that was because it was genetically tested at one of three labs in the country that does this specific testing. A lot of it depends on whether or not your doctor has a lab in his office that he can do basic testing from or if it needs to be sent out for more specific testing. With the holidays labs are backed up, too. If you're really concerned then call first thing in the morning and ask when they typically get their test results in. Your results may be sitting on the doctor's desk waiting for his signature before results are released, too. Remember what the other Mom's are saying here, no news is typically good news.
