Urgent Seeking OB

The best chance of getting a VBAC is with a midwife!! From Greenbelt, you have several choices. Midwives from either Special Beginings or Bay Area Midwifery will do VBACs at Anne Arrundel Hospital. I am a doula and childbirth educator; and hvve had many successful VBACs at this hospital with both these practices. You could also choose midwives at Washington Hospital center from either the hospital or DC Developing families center.

I don't know if you are close to DC, but I would recommend Dr Collea at Georgetown University hospital

Hi - I would HIGHLY recommend Midwifery Care Associates in North Bethesda. They are fantastic, do VBACs (although I did not have one) and work in concert with Simmonds and Simmonds OB practice if an OB becomes necessary. They deliver at Shady Grove. I don't know how far you are from there. I love them so much I sent them all spa certificates after my birth! It was 17 hours long, vaginal and the midwife spent 12 hours with my husband and I. No kidding!

I also have been very happy with Capital Women's Care. http://cwcare.net/ I believe they take many kinds of insurance. I use the Silver Spring office and my favorites are Dr. Sine and Dr. Tyau. Dr. Tyau ended up delivering my daughter (at Holy Cross) and she was wonderful. I'm a petite woman and had an 8lb baby no problem.

I would recommend Capitol Women's Care. They are located in Silver Spring, and are affiliated with Holy Cross Hospital. I have been going there since I was 17, and I am 29 now. They delivered both my babies, and Holy Cross has one of the best maternity wards and neonatal units. I would recommend Dr. Corliss Newhouse, or Dr. Steven Maggid. Hope this helps!!!

For a VBAC, my understanding is that locally your best options are either a homebirth midwife or Dr. Jean-Gilles Tchabo in Arlington. I know he isn't particularly close by, but he is the head of Obstetrics residents at VHC and is a full professor at Georgetown.
