Ok, so I have been planning my 2nd wedding (or trying to) for awhile now. We want to go to an all inclusive kid friendly resort in Jamaica. My daughter willl be 15 and my son 11. The first agent I asked for help was worthless. The second not as bad but seriously not a detail person. Now I've contacted a third and they were all excited sounding in the email and it's been a week and I've heard nothing! Because of the laid back attitude of the previous agent I already can't go when we planned (12/26-1/2) so I've had to change it to MEA week in October and I'm scared I'll miss my chance when the kids are out of school.....
I have not emailed the newest agent again and have been patiently waiting for her reply...should I call or email? Find a new agent?
Any mom's that are travel agents that could help?
It's getting down to the wire and we need to book soon - any advice/help is greatly appreciated!! ** The only real reason we want to use an agent is because of payment terms - you put x amount down and the balance within 2 months of the trip....I am waiting on my tax refund to pay for the trip and by the time it arrives I may run into issue with everything booked!!**

What can I do next?

Find a resort and contact them directly. Most resorts now have wedding coordinators. They can walk you through the whole process. Then do the rest yourselves. Shouldn't be too difficult. We went to the Dominican Republic last year on vacation and they were doing two to three weddings a day. One of the ladies I work with got married there last July. She worked with the wedding coordinator and it was smooth as silk.

We had a destination wedding - 10 guests.

Went to an online discount place - booked flight, hotel and car rental.

Told relatives.

They picked their own travel schedule and made own arrangements. We stayed two weeks, they stayed one. If nothing else, the shopping will calm your nerves about what price to expect while you wait for the agent. :)

We began planning a trip with a travel agent once, and it was a mess (kind of like your situation), so we "fired" her and did it ourselves..it was great! Every other trip we've taken we've planned ourselves and not had any problem. Do you have to use one? If so, I'd call instead of email. Email is too easy for people to ignore. Good luck!

FYI - October is hurricane season in the Caribbean.

You don't really need a travel agent for this. Just research resorts online and find the one you like the best. The resort will have a wedding planner that you deal with once you book your vacation. The travel agent won't be able to get specific about your wedding details anyway.

Congratulations on your wedding. I'm sure it will be beautiful. Wish I could be there!

Heres the thing. You want to book air travel and an all inclusive resort in Jamaica on a certain date. Theres not many details the agent could really be involved in. An all inclusive is what it is. She gives you the price, thier brochure and phone number and the rest is up to you. She has no control over what happens there. Flights to Jamaica, well, you book, you fly. I don't think they could give you what you want. I dont think any travel agent is going to be able to accomodate your specific needs.

Only you know exactly what you want. I would go online, search for the resort you love and contact them. Ask if they have any packages that will accomodate your party that includes airfare. Compare that to booking the resort seprately from the flights. You will save yourself an agent fee and feel much more in control of the siutation.
