Hi again all...I have a question--How do you manage a 4 year old and twins under a year old on a plane? I want to fly home but I am afraid to do it alone and hubby can't get off work. Tell me exactly how to do everything!! Do the twins both sit in my lap? What should I have for them on the flight? Should I even try this?????

What can I do next?

HI Gina! WOW--you have your hands full! Well--I am not sure they allow two kids on your lap at once. You may have to buy one a seat. Just contact whatever airline you want to use, and they should be able to give you some advice on this. Another thing to think about--make sure you get help once you step off the plane carrying the car seat/seats used on the plane to get to baggage claim. (I assume your family will be there picking you up) You will need help right after the plane ride. I am sure you know this--but it's ok to overplan in this situation. Good Luck! :)

can someone fly down to fly back up w/ you? then have your hubby fly there and come back with you. it will be so much easier that way. a bit more expensive but you'll have peace of mind. can you imagine when you have to go to the bathroom?
bring plenty of snacks, their meds, a favorite toy/blankie. and some toys that are not too noisy and little pieces won't fall off.

I only have a set of twins. We have flown a number of times. If they are under two they they can sit in their carrier or in your lap. Only one child per adult lap I think. Have plenty of snacks though. Definity have them sip on a bottle or sippy cup at take off and landing. Helps with their ears so you don't have screaming children. Good luck, your are brave to go by yourself!

Go for it! I flew home from Germany with my 6 month old triplets. It was wonderful. Get a seat for your 4 yr old and one for one of the boys(you can rotate them depending on who is more calm during the flight.) Bring all of the car seats...if you are on a flight that isn't full, you might get lucky and be able to get an extra seat without paying. And, flight attendants are wonderful. Most are willing to hold babies and walk them up and down the aisles when they can. I recommend that you get a kiddie leash for the four year old(getting to and from the terminal might be confusing). Ask your airline if they can give a special pass to someone to help you on the plane, or ask them to provide someone to help you. Don't worry about people in line at security...if they are late for their flight...it is NOT your fault. Just make sure you go early and prepared. It takes a lot of stuff and a lot more patience. You can do it, if it is really what you want. Good luck, have fun.

You are a brave soul, but am I afraid that you are taking on WAY too much. If I were you - I would wait for an occasion when someone - even if not your hubby - can go with you. If it is for a special occasion - then I would find someone to pay to go with you. I flew by myself with my then 3 year old and my then 11 month old this past year and I will be paying for my own and the therapy of about 75 other passengers for life I am afraid! And I had one less child! Seriously think about this before you do it, because in my experience the flight attendants are less than helpful with children on the plane. On the flight that I was on I paid for seats for all of us and the flght attendant was extremely irritated that my oldest kept unbuckling his seat belt and would NOT help me find an extra blanket after my son spit up all over the blanket that I had brought with me. It was a COMPLETELY miserable experience!

I just flew recently with a 5 year old and my twins. I took both car seats & stowed 1. I sat the calmer of the 2 twins in the car seat next to the window (kept him entertained) I sat in the middle with the other twin sleeping & the 5 year old (who...might I mention is WILD)...he sat in the aisle seat. It sucks b/c you have to pay for an extra seat, but it was worth it. It was prob the best flight ever. I have flight anxiety & I was too entertained to think about it. Good luck! --Oh, and bring a stroller. Someone can help you carry the other stuff.
