We're expecting twins Aug 16th and I'm looking for moms out there with twins or pregnant with twins. These will be #3 and #4 for us- #1 is 2.5yrs old and #2 is 14 months. Believe it or not, we planned it this way (not the twin part) and we are thrilled but to be realistic, a bit freaked. Any comments welcome.

What can I do next?

CONGRATULATIONS!! Invest in a membership card (if you don't have one already) at Costco or Sam's Club for boxes of diapers (200+ for $30) and wipes (200 for $13-15) since you'll have 3 in diapers. You're going to need to save as much as you can, but they don't take coupons unfortunately.

Best of Luck!

A.

I have to make this quick because I have to leave for work in 5 mins, but my name is M. I have been part of this group for 7 years as of next month and it is well worth getting involved in. My triplets are 6 1/2. I will email you privately and give you my email and my phone number and I can put you in contact with our membership coordinator, Clauida. Our webiste is www.mcmom.org

Hi S.,

My very close cousin just had twins last August that too were #3 and #4 for for them. Their first 2 were a bit older (7 and 5), so that came with both pros and cons. The best thing she said to me was that she asked for the help. Yes, you will have people come in and want to spend time with the babies, but if the say is their anything else they can do, and you need other help tell them. Yes I mean with laundry and dishes and such. I would go there to help her for a day and all day she got to tell me what she would need done. Of course I held the babies too, but she also got help making dinner and dishes done laundry folded. And truthfully I felt like I got to visit with her and the girls, but really help too.

She also loves her mothers of multiples group and her Mothers of preschoolers group. These are places to talk about specific things that pertain to you to see if anyone has a different idea that may work for you.

I wish you all the joys and blessings

Hi S.,

My name is D. and I have a set of twins. Both girls, beautiful of course. They are 7yrs old now. We actually raised three children of our own, all grown now with families of their own. We adopted our twins, and have had them since birth. I found that the best thing to do is first off unless they look completely different or are a boy and a girl it is easier to dress them differently in order to tell them apart at first. My girls are identical twins. We started out dressing one in pink and one in purple. Works great taking pictures, so you will know who is who. The other is to let them be individuals, just because they are twins does not mean they like the same things. When they enter school put them in separate classes. This allows them to make their own friends and own personal identities. My girls are a lot alike, but yet very different and know that they are different people. Good luck and God Bless. Congratulations. Twins are a lot of fun to raise.

I am expecting twins in May,and it will be our number 3 and 4. I have an 11 year old (step daughter who lives with us) and a 19 month old. I was very overwhelmed at first. It has pretty much sunk in now, and I am trying to think positively that it will all work out. Try not to think too much about how your going to take care of two new borns at once, because that kept me frieked out for a few weeks! I'm trying to get my youngest one all set with potty training, took her off the pacifier, and will have her out of her crib by the time the babies come so that she will be more prepared. Good luck!

First off, congrates!!!

I have a 3yr old son and twin girls that are three months old. I'm not yet as experienced as some of these other moms, so the best I can say is accept as much help as you can. The first 2-4 weeks was the hardest, and although it's still hard, it is slowly getting easier. My mom stayed here for about 2 months helping me with all three kids. But to be honest she just really wanted to be with her grandchildren (she lives in WI).
Don't worry about the house being spotless. I'm still not in the swing of things yet. I don't cook every night like I used to, and my daily chores around the house has been getting slacked on a bit. But as the girls get less needy of me then things will come back to normal.
And I don't know if you are planning on FF, or BF, and whatever you chose is great, but if you want to BF don't let people tell you that you can't BF twins, b/c yes you can. I am exclusivly BF both of my twins and it's going great. I was told by everyone I knew when I was preggo that I wouldn't be able to do it, and I shouldn't even try. It was hard in the beginning, but now we've got a good flow with it. So if you want to do it, then go for it, b/c yes you can nurse twins. Now if you don't want to do it, then that's fine too, whatever works for you and your babies. I just want to speek from my experiences.
Oh....
And be prepared for being treated like a celeb or somehting. B/C anytime we go out with them and ppl realize we have twins, we get a swarm of ppl wanting to look and coo at them ,and ask you a bunch of questions. Most of the time it's no big deal, but I have head from some other moms of twins some crazy stories.
GL!

HI S. - first, congratulations!

my twins are now 3, and the lights of my life. Its challenging, but the rewards are many.
My best suggestion is to join a twins group . Another post told of the monroe twins group - if you are closer to Oakland Co/Troy/Rochester - gomOMS.org is a wonderful group - I have been a member since I was pregnant. Tons of support and a special group just for new moms to deal with the challenges of 2 at a time. There are many members who have multiples and other children as well, so its a well balanced group.

Our group has a library on specific twins books, that you can check out and not have to spend the $ to get the information.

I can give further support/information offline at anytime if you like.

Again, congratulations.

here is our yahoo group you can join to meet other moms of twins.

I have twins - now 7! I am a member of the Northern Macomb mothers of Multiples which has members from Rochester Hills, Utica, Warren, Sterling heights, Clinton township and Macomb. We meet the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7.30pm at the Lutheran Church on M59 and Van Dyke in Utica and have 2x clothing sales a year plus regular events for the kids and an annual moms getaway. The chair is Julianne Ray and her number is ###-###-####. She has 6 kids and we have many members with more than just multiples (including one with quads and twins and two with 2 sets of twins) who will be able to help out! Looking forward to seeing you there...

Hi S.

I had Twins in Nov 2006! I freaked the entire time I was pregnant telling my hubby how much work it was going to be. I had a child from a previous marriage the twins were first children for him. To tell you the truth I think having twins is easier. Although you do feel like you are constantly changing diapers and feeding them in the begining. My boys were a lot more independant from the begining. I put them in the same crib for the first 4 months. They always ended up cuddled up together. The other thing I did that a lot of people will say don't is wake the other up in the middle of the night to feed after the frist was done. I did that so I could get some sleep. Having twins is a total blessing and tons of fun.

Hi S.,

I am a mom of twins and have kids very close in age as well. Our kids are 9, 4 1/2, twin 2 1/2, and an 18 month, we are expecting our last baby in March. The best advice I can give you is to put all your kids on the same nap schedule. At first it's not that easy with newborns, but once I got my twins and my 2 year old to lay down for a nap at the same time everyday, it aloud me to lay down for a much needed nap as well. Also if you have friends and family that can help, that would be great. We didn't really have much help, but anytime the older 2 were gone, it was a lot easier to deal with the twins and find time to do the little things. I had to learn that a clean house wasn't as important as sleep was, and to nap when ever I could for the first 4 months. That was the hardest, after that it was a lot easier. Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions:o)

Oh my Good Luck !!! Lol!! I thought I had my had full I have a 8, 6, 4, and 17 month old wanting another one. WOw I am so proud of you guys thats great. I definatly pray for you guys. I don't know much about twins other than your busy. If your not changing on your changing the other. My oldest has a friend and shes a twin and 7 years later her parents had another set of twins. So I have a little experience. I know she uses babysitters and her parents alot to baby sit. But her parents are older so she doesn't like to use them alot. You will need family help and or babysitters. She uses the baby sitters so she doesn't have to take them to the store or like to spend individual time with her other children. Shes always trying to do stuff with the others so they don't feel left out.
