I am not sure how old your son is, but my son was about 2 1/2 when he was the same way. He had to fall asleep in our bed watching tv...we did this because it was convenient at the time, but then it became very inconvenient and it only got worse. We decided to unplug all the tvs and told him that they were not working...we decided to start a new ritual with picking out 3 books and reading it to him and then putting him to bed. It got better each night and took about 4 to 5 nights to get him in the habit. I don't know if this will work, but I hope you figure it out...GOOD LUCK!

I often fall asleep with the T.V. on and I know why it is, for the sound. My husband and son are asleep and it is just to quite. Your son may not need the T.V., he may be able to go to sleep with the radio on or just mood music in the back ground.

Best of Luck

I would do the sound machine.... he might just need white noise. or a ceiling fan will sometimes work.

make him go cold turkey - start on a friday though, because he probably won't fall asleep right away or sleep great, but i broke myself of this habit... i never knew how much sleep i was missing until it was gone.

First, how old is your son. If he is young, this may not be such a bad idea if yiou have the TV programmed to turn off at a specific time. (1 hr.) Or, you could try reading a story, or find some soothing music that he may like to listen to. You should stay in the room with the child while you are trying to reprogramming from his current habit. It works...I've done it. However, age makes a difference!!!!!

We watch t.v. at bedtime in our home also. I know that I have looked into different ways to help get my little one to sleep without the t.v. I did find an item in the toy department at Walmart. It is a story telling machine that projects the story onto the wall. There are different settings on the machine. One tells stories or plays music all night long and then there is a setting that times the story to shut off at a designated time. It was really neat and may help you get your child off the need to watch the t.v. I found it in with the v-cast stuff and the computer toys. It cost about $32.00 if that helps.
