I am 3 1/2 months pregnant with my second child and going through a divorce. My mother told me yesterday that we could talk about a tummy tuck. I am very excited. That would make me feel much better about myself after the divorce and two children and all. But my question is how did it effect any of you? Where they any down falls? The day I do meet Mr. Right and Wonderful I may want to have another child also. What are you thoughts.

What can I do next?

First of all, I'm sorry that your mom is talking to you about tummy tucks when you're going through a pregnancy. I mean, it's not like we all don't worry enough about the changes in our body while we're pregnant, right?

I'm 29 years old, had my first child at 26 and my second, when my first was 15 months old. So, totally back to back. I gained almost 50 pounds with my first and then 27 with my second. I don't know what your body type is like, but I am 5'4" and when I first got pregnant I weighed about 115. Anyway, the reason I'm telling you this is because being a small girl, I gained 50 pounds and did not get a single stretch mark. I have no extra skin at all. So, for you to worry about what you might need to have done after your baby, while you're still pregnant, is totally jumping the gun. You can't even tell that I had any babies. Even if you could tell though, unless your mom is planning on paying for that tummy tuck, you'll find that there are many many other more important things to spend that money on. I used to think that I wanted a boob job, but a couple of years ago I realized that there are more important things than worrying about me having small boobs. I have small B's and when I was pregnant and breastfeeding I was busting out of a D. So, don't worry about that stuff now, just enjoy being pregnant. That other stuff isn't important.

I can understand where you are coming from. You need to feel comfortable with yourself also. However I would wait until you baby you are pregnant with is at least a year old. I had cosmetic surgery also but waited until my daughter was one. It helped a lot with recovery and please please find someone to help you out through that first week, its hell if you dont. Just make sure you have your ducks in a row before jumping into something as big as surgery.

With as young as you are, you should have enough elasticity in your skin to shrink back. Now if you are thinking about a tummy tuck to get rid of the extra body fat there, it won't. They tell you to lose as much weight as you can before the tummy tuck. All it does is removing the extra skin and tightening it up. As for the fat part that would require either lyposuction or diet & exercise. They do now do lypo sculpting. Where they can scupt the fat to give the appearance of the 6 pack abs. Hope this helps!

My aunt just had a tummy tuck...I have to tell you why though!! She jsut recovered from breast cancer and had one breast removed. When she was ready to have the implant put in they thought it was best to go through the tummy, they said that would be the least painful for her and so she said while you are there do a tummy tuck!! After it was all done she was in so much pain from the tummy tuck it was unreal.

I guess that my point is that you have better things to worry about...like your unborn baby!! If you have any reason to think that you may have more children then there is no point in going through all the pain. Also this is not something that you would want to do with a brand new baby at home. My advice to you would be to get through this time and focus on your self and your children...Is a tummy tuck really going to make a difference if you meet the man of your dreams?? I am pretty sure that I would want someone that loves me for me...not because I am skinny!!!

A tummy tuck sounds very exciting to keep in the back of your mind! First of all though, you may not need one! I have had 5 kids. Even by baby number 3, I was able to loose weight with work and have a nearly perfect tummy!

I was lucky, no stretch marks on the tummy. After baby #5 I have had a harder time with my tummy, but haven't worked at it all that hard either. I have concidered the tummy tuck. i haven't ruled it out yet, but i just don't want that scar IF I can avoid it.

You are very young. Your body may bounce back better than you expect. If it doesn't, and a TT will help your self esteme, I say go for it! Just be sure to ask your doctors all those questions...like, about more kids. They can tell you more than we can!

Congrats on the new baby!

EXERCISE WHILE YOU ARE PREGNANT..KEEP IN SHAPE...STAY IN SHAPE AFTER YOUR BABY IS BORN. YOU PROBABLY WONT NEED A TUMMY TUCK IF YOU DO ALL OF THAT.....BUT IF YOU DO, MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO WAIT A BIT.....THE RECOVERY ISNT BAD BUT 2 KIDS YOUR GONNA NEED THE ENERGY....ALOT OF ENERGY. ASIDE FROM ALL THAT, HAVING A TUMMY TUCK ISNT SOOOOOO BAD. AS LONG AS YOU WATCH FOR INFECTION AND ALL THE NORMAL STUFF. AND KNOW THAT IT DOESNT KEEP THE WEIGHT FROM COMING OFF. I KNOW A LADY WHO HAD IT DONE AND SPENT 4 WEEKS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH A HORRIBLE INFECTION...BUT THAT MAY BE A RARE CASE..I AM SURPRISED YOUR MOTHER BROUGHT THIS UP.....SO MAYBE SHE HAS SOME ADVICE TO GIVE TO? OR HAS HAD ONE??? GOOD LUCK
