my son has really bad clogged tear ducts so they put tubes in his eyes to help unclog them. he has a little bit of cartilege removed as it was blocking the tears from his nose. has anyone else had this problem before, and what did they do for your child? his tubes have only been in for a month and after the tube fell out he isnt producing any tears on the one side like he is on the other side that still has the tube in

What can I do next?

I have no idea if this is normal or not but....
Just to make light of this.. You need to save the tubes, to go along with the baby teeth in the future.. Will make a great story some day.

I wonder if the tear ducts have just grown large enough he just does not need them any more.

The human body is very interesting when it comes to expelling foreign objects.

I hope you took him right back to the Dr who put them in!! If not, call them Monday to make an appt!

P.S. How old is he? My daughter had really bad clogged tear ducts for the first 4 months of her life. All we did was massage the area and put on warm compresses. It went away by itself and she's had no eye issues since.

We had our daughter's eye fixed as she had a clogged duct as well. But it was just one eye. After the surgery they had put a stint in to hold it open. It wasn't a tube, it was just a piece of plastic that circled around and through her duct....it wasn't going to come out as it was attached to itself in a circle unless it was cut. Since he has these tubes, I would recommed calling the doctor and asking what they want to do. We ended up calling our daughter's surgeon when she got pink eye shortly after surgery. Good luck, sorry I can't help a little more.

Call the pediatricians after hours number and let them know now, so they can see your son first thing Monday morning. Chances are, as he grows, the tubes are too small to fit the space (that's how it works with ear tubes anyway).

I've not personally experienced this with my kids. My girlfriend did with her daughter. When I was with her, she would prepare warm compresses and hold them on her daughter's eyes - she would put her head in her lap and sing sweet songs to her so her daughter could relax.

I would call the Dr to let them know the tube came out. He may want to see you first thing tomorrow morning. I don't know. But call just to be sure they know what's going on.

Good luck!

idk about tead ducts but my sons ear tube fell out after a month because his ear infections were still so bad it pushed it out! he was ten months when he got them in and was older than two after they both finally fell out. i would call just to find out what you need to do. with the ears it was no big deal. he still has a hole in his ear drum though.
