Monday morning I woke up feeling disgusting. I took my girls to a toy store to play and by the time we made it to the doll section I had to rush them out the door because something wasnt right with my stomach. The entire day was spent on the throne ;)
Fast forward to today and Im still sick. Yesterday morning I took immodium and after 3 doses the you know what has stopped but damn am I still in pain and nauseous. Ive barely eaten a thing and after 4 days I still dont desire a lick of food. Its the weirdest thing but I just dont want to eat and feel like thats just how it is. I do want to but its more like I want to want to, if that makes sense. Then to add insult ti injury just as Im making a turn for the better, I get my period last night. Grrrrrr. So now Im torn, I feel so weak and have no energy but I cant seem to think up a single thing to eat thats not turning my stomach. Even tonight, my family ate pasta, something we ALL LOVE and I had to leave the room. Ill mention that Ive only thrown up once and that was the middle of the night 2 nights ago and its because I stupidly tried to have some milk. Otherwise Ive just been nauseuos, oh and thank the Lord no fever.
So my question is, do you smart ladies have a fix for this because I cant take much more before I break.
Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

Be careful that you don't get dehydrated. I would suggest chicken broth - or even just some chicken bouillon without any noodles or anything. You need liquids and electrolytes even if you are not ready for solid food yet.

Water with a little sugar. Or a popsicle. Little bits, every 15 minutes. Getting dehydrated can make you feel more nauseated! It's also dangerous. Put at least a quart of water in a container on the counter and make sure you get it down over the course of the day.

Weak decaf or herb tea with a tiny amount of honey, or ginger, which is especially soothing to an upset stomach. No caffeine - it's dehydrating.

Eventually, BRAT diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. Absolutely no dairy. If you have a little All Fruit, you can put a very thin layer on the toast. No raw veggies, nothing gas-inducing, nothing high fiber right now until the diarrhea is gone for 4 days.

Very small amounts at a time, just a a few bites. Don't overdo it, no matter how much you feel you "should" eat!

Good luck and hope the kids don't get it!

A friend of mine was telling me today that her husband has had something very similar to what you described. Another friend who is a nurse said they have seen a lot of it in our community. It seems to be a form if norovirus. Docs are recommending drinking Gatorade for the electrolytes. Even if it just goes in one end and out the other. They are also suggesting that the sick person sleep alone and have a bathroom all to themselves to help prevent spreading it. They are also saying the sick person should not prepare food for anyone else until all symptoms are gone. She works in the peds ICU and said kids who get it are getting seriously dehydrated.

You can go for a long time without eating solid food.
What you really need is to do is stay well hydrated and watch your electrolytes.
Pedialyte/Gatorade, ginger ale, clear soup broth will help.
You can survive on that for several weeks if you had to.
Stay away from dairy for awhile.
I find that probiotic gummy bears work better than yogurt when I need to re-balance my system after any gastroenteritis.
Take your time and go slowly when introducing solid food again.

Taking medication sometimes makes the stomach bug stick around. Immodium is basically clay. It "plugs" the pipes so nothing comes out. SO the virus and "bug" is still inside.

I would say eat jello, eat dry toast if you feel like it, drink gatorade in tiny sips to help with your electrolytes, take it slow and easy.

If you're not hungry & don't feel like eating, just be sure to try to drink enough liquid. You won't starve without food, but you'll get dehydrated without liquids.

Stay away from dairy, except for yogurt with a probiotic. Pretzels are good. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. Gatorade.

Like Doris Day, I think you need to get to a doctor today just to be on the safe side. You could have a norovirus, or it could be foodborne illness like listeria, e. coli or salmonella -- all have some fairly similar symptoms and you can't know if you have those, norovirus or something else unless they do tests. Getting a diagnosis of the type of problem could help a doctor give you meds that will finally end this. You have to be very careful about dehydration or you can end up in the hospital. Hope you get better soon.

Chicken broth and diluted gatorade, but make sure your refridgerate any leftovers. Gatorade can turn bad. Ask me how I know....

You can also hold ice chips, 1 spoonful at a time, in your cheek. Every 15 minutes or so. Your body will absorb the water through the skin instead of your stomach to keep you hydrated.

I think you need to go to the doctor and give them a stool sample. You sound like you have something that you shouldn't be taking Immodium for. If you keep it from getting out, you may just get sicker.

You should drink plenty of fluids so that you don't hurt your kidneys. Not eating much is probably a pretty good idea.

Good luck, and hope you get better soon!

This isn't for everyone, but when I have an upset tummy, stomach virus, etc, I dilute about 1tbsp o Apple Cider vinegar in a glass full of water or juice( lemonade/ Apple) and sip it. It cures the nausea, intensity of stomach cramps, and whatever else. After that I eat a banana and maybe some rice . I do this for how ever long I need to. I do only need about one glass a day though. The rest of the time I drink Gatorade or Ginger ale to keep up with liquids.
