Trying to Get Out My Apt's Lease

I signed the lease in December and live with my sister. I NEED to get out. She is doing "unfit" things and I refuse to live there or bring my baby which is due in May around. I was told unless she signs me off then I'm screwed. Please if someone knows how I can off of this. I can't stand living there anymore

What can I do next?

S.,
If you signed a lease like an apt. complex the best thing you can do is go talk to one of the managers privately. Just confide in someone in the office and tell them what's going on and sometimes you might have to pay a months rent but most time they are understanding. Does you sister know how you feel? Pray all goes well! You can email me back if you want.

Hi S.

In my youth I had a slu of roommates. I'm sorry to say that what you've heard is correct. A lease is a legal contract.and unless she signs you off your stuck. but hears the highlight you can go ahead and move out if you'd like and if she doesn't take care of the place you can take her to small claims court. Have a friend write a witness letterr and get it noterised(spelling) that you left the apt. on said date. If she wont sign you off tell her about that and it might shock some sence into her. If she is doing something thats breaking the law inform the landlord and see if you can get rid of her. This just sucks that this is your sister. But tough love is better than bringing a new baby into an enviroment like this.

I would try a written explanation of what you will accept as a roommate. If she's doing anything illegal, I'd let her know that you simply will not live with it. It can be so hard when it's family because you don't want to have your parents and other family members getting in the middle and taking sides. Talking to a lawyer is a good idea. You cna't throw her out without good cause, yet if your name is on the lease, you're liable for any damage she may incur. Can you possibly get your name removed from the lease?

Can you talk with the landlord and see what they say? If not I would contact a lawyer and see what your options are.

I am from up North...Ohio. I just moved to FL a year ago. Regarding your lease..have you looked into the cost of breaking it...maybe there's just a fee? We have to pay a month's rent, for example. I would atleast look into any options. Good luck to you and CONGRATULATIONS! I was a single mom too...
