It would help to know what type of meds you are trying to get her to take. I have three year old twins and I've found getting either cold/cough meds or prescriptions meds with the right flavoring helps. Mine hate anything orange flavored, but will do grape flavored. If it's a prescription med, most of your pharmacies will mix a flavor in for you upon request. I have also found that my kids now do meds better taking it from an actual teaspoon vs using the medicine droppers. I think it makes them feel in more control of the situation. I always tell them when we have to do medcines they need their medicine to make them feel better. For some of the really aweful tasting meds (a few of the antibodics even with flavoring are just terrible tasting), I've actually mixed in with a little bit of their favorite go-gurt yogurt flavor.

Wish you luck.

I asked my doctor about this and he gave me the okay to put it in Chocolate pudding or yogut. Also for colds I have been using the Trimantic [sp] strip. They are really easy to take.
Good Luck

Also I wouldn't never tell a child that meds are candy for the fact they could think that and take the whole bottle when you turn your back for a second. And OD....

We get our prescriptions at Sam's and our pharmacist is able to tell us what flavor is best to mix the medicine with. One time she told us the fruit punch drink would be good. Next time we mixed it with orange soda like Fanta. Put it in a sippy cup with it full of the drink or almost full and he gulped it right down. Walmart has all the flavors to mix.
When he got older he was able to take it regularly. It won't hurt anything to do it the easy way for a while.

I have two boys, 6 and 3. When they had to take yucky purple cough medicine, I told them it was dragon snot. They seemed to like that and once one of them took it, the other followed suit. It helped that it was thick, too. Boys will be boys.

Depending on what type medicine she's taking, liquids are easier until they are older. For girls, maybe telling her that it's princess juice might help. Or that it's magic potion to help her with whatever is ailing her.

Don't resort to the candy trick though. You don't want to associate medicine with candy.

Good luck,
K.

R., what kind of meds? Some meds I have to sneak into my childs sippy cup. It really depends on what it is. DS doesn't like Tylenol, but I resolved that issues with the Tylenol meltaways! He thinks they are smarties or candy. If the option is available, find out if you can get in a chewable tablet and try to pass off as candy. Or offer the meds to your child first and if he/she refuses, then offer to your husband (grandparent, aunt/uncle, etc). My son will take anything if it's offered to someone else. lol - good luck!
