its time for our two daughters to share a room as we are adding to our family. I'm looking at trundles over bunks because this would also second as our guest bedroom and i cannot stand the thought of putting guests in bunk beds. I'm wondering if any of you use your pull out trundle daily and has this been a good choice for you or do you find it cumbersome and difficult to take out and put away daily?
We are in a rental and the bedrooms are small. I can't bank on big bedrooms for our next house either so just choosing a space saving option now.
I'd like to add that the one I'm looking at it about $1000 without mattresses. I'm wondering if quality might play a role in how it functions for rolling out. For those who say it was a pain, is it possible quality of the product played a roll?
My sister's boys sleep on a trundle bed. I think she leaves the bed pulled out most of the time. It is easy to push in, though.
I had to do this with my girls for about a year. I hated it. The bed was hard to make and covered in toys half of the time, it was a pain.
What about bunk beds where the bottom is bigger, a full size mattress? Your guests could sleep on that.
Or you could invest in one of those Aero beds, they're pretty comfortable and easy to store.
Trundle beds are a pain in the rear and hardly ever used for what it is supposed to be used for.
It is not comfortable either.
We had trundles for a long time but did not use them everyday (only for sleep-overs or guests). At that time in our lives we had carpet in our sons' bedrooms. As another mom mentioned, carpet can make them a bit cumbersome to slide in and out. Otherwise they seemed to be a perfectly fine sleeping option (ours were Thomasville).
I grew up with a very nice trundle bed. All solid wood. The trundle was all metal.
Very easy to use, but we did not have carpet, so pulling it out was easy.. It also lifted easily.
It had excellent mattresses also..
If you are really going to use this every day, invest in a good quality trundle bed.. The ikea ( i love this company over all) trundles..are a bit rattle trap.. so look for a good manufacturer.
I think trundles are a great way to save space and use it wisely. The price on these is very very high though. If you can afford them and it's what you want for them to use until they get out and go to college then I can see having this bed.
Otherwise I'd probably just use a full size bed and be done with it.
The trundle bed is such a pain to pull out we just use a blowup mattress. Can't imagine using it for daily use.
