So, I stepped in it. Literally. I put the boots aside in the garage, b/c I didn't feel like dealing with it right away...now it is rock hard. Anyone have tips/tricks on getting this out of the treads with as little pain possible? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I would put them in a plastic bag, take a pair of rubber gloves with you, and get them to one of those self serve car washes and try power hosing them. Those self serve car washes also have foam brushes, I'd try that to if the power hosing doesn't work.

I have used the outside hose and set the nozzle on jet spray to get it off my kid's sneakers. Only problem is it's winter in Chicago.

I use my water sprayer with extreme hot water to get mud out. It works great and of course I scrub the sink clean afterwards. It is not too bad because it goes straight down the drain.

I just dealt with that this morning unfortunately. I used small sticks and q-tips. It helped get it out of the little spots. GL

Grab a screwdriver, go outside and dig away.

I have a couple of old toothbrushes that are designated for cleaning (write "For Cleaning Only" with a Sharpie marker), they work great for getting poop out of the treads.

You could put them back on and go outside and grind your feet in course gravel. If the treads are really small, then a hose or screwdriver.

Ahh good old dog poop in the shoe... story of my life! We have a sizable yard, and no matter how hard I try to keep it picked up, my foot always manages to find the one turd I missed- grrrr. I'm laughing though at all of the responses from the expert poop cleanin' mamas out there!! It cracks me up.

I've used nearly all of these methods. Although, the designated wire bristle brush is a new one for me! Will have to try that :)

In the winter in Chicago, I let it dry then clap the shoes together, and whatever's left I get out with a small twig or stick. In the summer, I try to wipe the bulk of it off in the grass and then I jet spray it with the hose and blast it out. Gross stuff.

Anyway, good luck :)

Hose it out. Either with the jet nozzle or put your thumb on the hose to make a strong spray. I've done this. Works easily.

Stiff bristle brush--then you automatically have a designated poop brush.

Set them in a shallow pan with some warm water in it. Then the poo will soften and rinse right off in the mud room sink or the shower.

We have a couple of nice stiff wire bristle brushes that work great. Got them at home depot!

Believe me...this is the best way>>>>>fill a container with the hottest water you have....let the container be big enough to fit both boots in...enough water to cover the soles of the shoes....let it soak. Now get an old toothbrush or wire brush and new water with soap in it....and just start scrubbing...initially you can let the boots soak over night. Of course a pressure washer will do it too..but too much mess.

after its dry.... slap them together or bang them on the ground. It will come right out like dried mud does.

Ugh. I hate that. I would just fill your sink or tub with super hot water and let them soak. Then clean the sink/tub of course!

This is going to sound weird, but I use a bent in half McDonalds straw! It folds to a point with enough girth to get the whole tread at once!
