I have not traveled with my kids since they changed the security rules. What can you bring on for snacks and drinks for kids? I have heard that it has to be under 3 oz.? My one daughter has a special diet so I want to make sure I will have food and drink available for her. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know I just started worrying about the exact same thing. I'm flying to Florida next week with my 5 year old. We're leaving the house at 5am so I no she won't want to eat then but by the time we board she'll be hungry and then we won't be in Florida til lunchtime so I was already thinking about getting breakfast in my child. I was thinking of brining poptarts and cereal bars or something. I'm not gonna even bother to do a beverage we'll just have to wait til we board the plane.

I recently traveled with my daughter and noticed very minimal changes. You should be able to bring snacks for her. The only real issue is medication and liquids. Check out this link for specific information: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitt...

The significant change is that all medications and any liquids must be in containers smaller than 3 oz. and that all such containers must fit in one, quart size, zip top bag. You cannot bring water, juice, etc. from home, but you can buy once you pass through security and then bring with you onto the plane.

I hope this helps.

You can being almost any food as long as it is not a gel or liquid so no pudding or apple sauce type items. You can not bring any beverages on except for formula. It there a special drink probablems with your daughters diet I would call the airport ahead of time. Otherwise you can buy anything after security check point that you want it just cant go through security. Also No powder items either. My biggest suggestion is bring as little as possible because you have to take all jackets and shoes off going through security also leave plenty of time. It does take awhile if the airport is busy.
Good Luck I just got back from disney with my 3 kids and security was the worst part of the trip.

Once you are past security you can purchase items for the plane (juice, water, etc). All food snacks that are not liquid can be taken through security. 3oz limit per container and then the container needs to fit into a ziploc bag.

I went through security with a sippy cup for my daughter so I think the rules have laxed a little. Also I brought through 6 oz bottles for my son (about 3 bottles) with no problem. This was around Thanksgiving. I would just check with the TSA website to make sure. I also brought baby food with no problem.

J.,

You can purchase drinks and food after going through security, although to me, it is a little spendy. But we did send my step-son onto the airplane with a bottle of gaterade. And security does take time, you do have to remove your jacket, shoes and any liquids such as make up, contact lens stuff, etc. and put them into plastic ziploc bags. I do not know exactly how much they let through in the plastic bags. One way to find out is to contact the airport. Good Luck!

We recently flew to Arizona with our 1 year old and 3 year old. You can bring milk for "a young child" but any other liquids that you carry on have to be less than 3 ounces. We purchased some juice and water after going through security but brought our own sippy of milk. Snacks are fine just as long as they aren't liquid. good luck!
