I have a 22 month old and a 3 month old and I was needing advice on how you all travel with kids this age. I more want to know how the you work the sleeping arrangements in a hotel with kids this age since I am nursing one and don't want to wake the other. I can't get ajoining rooms all the time so I was wondering what you all do.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

We usually get 2 queen beds (my boys are older). One sleeps with me, one with Dad and one gets the floor. Believe it or not, they fight for the floor! They cannot share the same bed or no one would get any sleep!

Try to stop at suite hotels and that will give you a little more room and more flexible sleep arrangements. Also, many hotels and motels have cribs that you can get.

Keep as close as possible to the regular routine. If the hotel has a pool, that is a good way to run off some energy before bed. Works great for my boys. Often, when it is lights out for the boys, it is lights out for everyone. Then we are all sure to get a good rest :) The distractions are just too much for my ADD boys!
Good Luck and safe travels!

Borrow or buy a sit 'n' stand. It helped when I had to take my 27 month old and 6 months old kiddos to the airport. Try to get the flight between their naptimes. Also, bring lots of snacks, coloring books, toys, etc. to fit in your carry on bag. As far as the sleeping arrangements, try to get them to go to bed roughly around the same time. If your toddler goes down a little earlier or later, it's okay. If your infant makes noise, the toddler will adjust. Mine did. I was always worried with the sleeping arrangements for fear that one of the kids would wake the other but overall it wasn't bad. If I had to nurse my son in the middle of the night, I would hurry and get him as soon as I heard a peep, feed him, then put him back down with his pacifier. My toddler would sleep through it. You will be just fine :)

Many hotels offer portable cribs, so the 22 month could sleep there while the nursing infant is with you.

We never spent the money on two rooms. However, we would bring a Honeywell floor fan to use as white noise. It never failed. They are under $20 at Target.

A lot of places have "mini-suites" or something with an extra space. We just traveled with my 3 yr old and 9 month old. The oldest slept on a mattress that we pulled off the couch-bed and put on the floor and the baby slept in a pack-and-play that the hotel provided. You can call ahead and see what your hotel options are. Good luck!

I did the same. I would keep the routine the same as at home, but one of the first things that I would do in the hotel room was rearrange all the furniture so it would work for us. I would make our oldest's bed and tell him that was where he would sleep. I had him sleep farther from my and my husband's bed. I would make a small bed right next to me for the youngest one, and when he woke up to nurse, I would just bring him in bed with us. When he was done, I put him back on the floor.

Sometimes, when oldest was having a hard time falling asleep, we made sure that all was well in the room and then we would go sit in the hallway until he fell asleep. (He normally falls asleep by himself, so we took the distractions away so he could sleep.) Besides that, it worked pretty well.
