Training Pants - Saint Paul,MN

I've had great luck with the Gerber thick cotton training pants, but..... only when your child is really close to being ready to leave diapers. They will not hold a complete urination accident LOL They are great when the child is pretty much trained but has "dribbles" or starts to go and then stops one self and runs to the toliet to finish. Sorry kinda alot of info but I didn't know how else to say it. I used them when my dd was potty trained but I was afraid of taking her out in public just yet and didn't want to put a diaper back on her.It's great too like I wanted my dd to realize how uncomfortable it was to be lazy and not use the potty and she I'd let her sit in her mess for a few minutes and get wet and cold and realize hmmmm.. this doens't feel good without making a puddle on the floor. Putting a plastic bag or something down on the carseat works great too.

As far as pull-ups... In my own opinion it's the worse invention of baby/toddler products out there. They look cute, and make the child feel grown up, and get mom and dad all excited but really they are just to comfortable and kids don't mind using the bathroom in them.

We cloth diaper and have found Mother-ease airflow covers to be the most waterproof. They are sold in toddler sizes, and snap on the sides for easy clean-up.

I have to disagree about pull-ups. I used them with both of mine (from 18m - trained), with excellent results! More important than the type of trainer you use is your own diligence. Pay attention to your child's signals--and the minute you spot one, get the kid to the bathroom. My daughter was completely day-trained by age 2 (she pretty much did it herself); my son took about six months longer, with more 'intervention' from me.

You don't mention if yours is a boy or a girl, but one of the best things I found are 'Piddlers'. They're little targets you drop in the toilet, to help little boys with their aim. My son was so excited about those, he decided peeing in the toilet was a great idea afterall! :-D

I know you said you are looking for waterproof, but with both my boys (who both trained before 22 months) we went straight to the Gerber thick crotch undies during the day. As for waterproof, We have a couple pairs of the Fuzzi Bunz Trickle Free Trainers. They work great! Also One Step Ahead has waterproof trainers for $10 I think each, but I've never tried them. The Gerber waterproof ones are terrible, they are tight and make the butt all sweaty. Not comfy! You want to try and keep anything that you use for potty training comfy, like soft undies that get uncomfy when wet, etc.

Depending on the age of your child (from 18months on up) I'd just go with regular undies. It makes quite an impact on a trainer to have pee running down their leg.

Another option is to use regular undies or the thick crotch ones at home, and then buy a few Bummis Super Whisper Wrap covers for going out. IT makes the same undies waterproof just by velcro'ing on the cover.
