Mamas & Papas-

Any tips or suggestions for good toys/ fun games to play with our DS? He's 19 months old now. Seems he's taken an interest in cars, running and chasing, and in opening and closing things. His favorite toy de jour is a Melissa & doug "puzzle" which has doors and different types of closing latches, a hook and eye, a window turn, a safety chain and other such things. "this little piggy" hasn't grown old as yet. Chasing pigeons is an extraordinarily good time.

If you can remember anything which was a big hit with your little ones I'd really appreciate it.

F. B.

What can I do next?

lol bubble wrap is indeed the best toy of all Jo!
I agree with more puzzles if thats what he likes too
Why not let him play with diferent food ingredients and mixing them together and play with the textures (flour, rice water, dough, corn starch Emmy still loves??)
My daughter loved any time I included water
I'd take the huge roasting pan and fill with water and then put her bath ducks in it and give her a strainer and she;d go fishing in hte living room
also i'd fill up bowls of water ad put them where rainbows where and let her play in it
that and give her toys baths in the living room with a bucket of water and a towel and wash cloth
The messier the better!

My boys have a Sand and Water Table by the company Step 2, it's a huge hit with them and us as it keeps them entertained. For several months out of the year, I just put sand on both sides when it's too cold for water. It comes with a cover and an umbrella and is light enough for me to move around if needed. They love to push small cars and trucks through the sand and drive them over the bridges that it comes with.

Their other favorite toy is the Melissa and Doug Wooden Train table, that gets a lot of use.

They also love to play with large Tonka dump trucks, front loaders and wooden blocks.

Crayola Finger Paints, Painting with brushes, Homemade playdough, Gluing things to paper (Crayloa washes off everything which is good because they make a mess!) Sidewalk Chalk

Shot in the dark--MORE opening/closing puzzles? Flap books? Tag?
Race car track and cars? Musical instruments were always a hit here for that age.
Oh--and the sand in a bin, cups, sifters, small pots and strainers.
Have you seen the I Spy treasure bags?

Sand and water table, SO worth the money!
Blocks, anything with wheels, toy kitchen with food and dishes.
Empty boxes (especially big ones) and containers.
Hang a wiffle ball from a string outside and let him practice hitting it with a bat.
Build a fort using your couch cushions, table and blankets.
A baby doll--yes, even boys like to practice being nurturing :)

I bought some inexpensive plastic cups in difffernt colors (same size - 2 or so of each color) that my daughter loved stacking in different orders and building towers. She would also fill them with other toys or whatever else she could find and dump them.

My daughter is just a little bit younger than that. Right now, she is really into blocks, stacking cups, the train table, and her play kitchen.

I sell Discovery Toys and we have a brand new line of toys starting this week! You can view everything on my website beginning in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 17. I really hope you'll check it out and contact me for some specific recommendations. I have my own two "product testers" at home (son is almost 5, daughter is 17 months), so I have a great sense of what they like and how everything works.

Hope to hear from you!
K. (check me out on Tuesday afternoon!)
