Toy Kitchen

My daughter will be 2 in a few weeks and I wanted to get her a toy kitchen for her birthday. Before I start my online quest, there are SO MANY out there, I wanted to hear what kitchen other mommies have purchased recently. I am pretty sure that I want to get a wooden kitchen that is medium size, large enough for 2 toddlers to play with at the same time. Looking to spend up to $200. I am also looking for a kitchen that she can use for the duration, I do not want to buy another one in a few years. She is my last child, so it will retire after she is finished using it or handed down to younger cousins.

Looking forward to your responses.

Thanks.

We have this one:

It's plastic, and took my husband about four hours to put together on Christmas eve after my daughter had gone to bed, but he had fun doing it. He grabbed his ipod, went out to the garage and pulled out his exacto blade kit to shave down all the little lumps where each piece connected to the plastic frame. We bought a package of plastic food and a tiny shopping cart to go with the kitchen so she could "shop" for the groceries, then go to her kitchen and fix us all dinner. A year later she still plays with it but now it's a play ground for her littlest pet shop creatures. They live in all the drawers and it's their "treehouse".

You could try to make one! Seriously! I do home childcare and wish I had done this...I might still in the future. Search online or Pinterest for all the great ones made from old dressers, desks and entertainment centers! So much cuter!

Otherwise, Little tikes is a good brand, stands the test of time!

Good luck!

We have this one: http://www.leapsandbounds.com/catalog/product.jsp?product...

I hope that link works. If not, its called the Grand Walk-in Kitchen by Step 2.

We've had it for almost 4 years now and it still looks brand new. My daughter plays with it everyday. She is 5 now, and my soon-to-be-2 year old son loves it just as much.

I just happened to see the kids woot today was a play kitchen, you might want to check that out, too. http://kids.woot.com/
Happy shopping! I'm sure whatever kitchen your pick out your daughter will absolutely love.

My DD loves kitchens and will play in any kitchen she finds. Most kitchens that are simple are just fine for kids. Ours is a sink/dishwasher piece and a stove/oven piece. Just plastic and nothing fancy, but we like that it's portable.

Other friends have big ones with more drawers and pans that go sizzle. The bigger ones do better where you have a dedicated play room. I say get the one that suits your house size and your child. Friends have one from Costco (?) that they got for something like $30. It needn't be pricey. IKEA has one that is sturdy and has an optional top level. Friend's son has played with it for several years now and 2 kids can share the space.

We got DD some of the IKEA pans and food because they are quality. If you get a shopping cart, consider Little Tykes. It's sturdy and has stood up to my SD sitting on it. Worth the investment.
