I have been having pain in my teeth and gums the last few days. I have been to 2 dentist and both said they can't see why I have been in pain. they took x-rays and checked things said they don't see what would cause the pain. I don't have bleeding gums there not red or swollen. I have been trying salt water rinses, sesitive toothpaste. I do have some receding gums but have had that for a year and the dentist says that is the same as before. Does anyone know of any remidies or anything that might help?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all your advice. I never thought that it might have something to do with my neck or something else. I have been taking pain medicaine. I will try some other medicaine and wait a week then hope that it will go away. I did burn my tongue a few days before but never thought it would cause tooth pain. Hope that is all it is. My dentist thought it was a absesesed tooth but he said he checked, I don't know. I will try some of the things you have said thanks. I appreicate all your advice.

How's your head? When I'm getting a sinus infection my teeth hurt worse than anything else in my head. I can feel it right above my molars on whichever side is more clogged. Try some decongestant & see if that works. If you don't want to take meds, use a sinus rinse or Neti Pot, or try some hot tea-that loosens the sinus funk up.
I hope the pain eases for you soon!

Sometimes if you burn the roof of your mouth, or tongue or whatever, on something really hot it can result in a injured nerve that can feel like tooth/gum pain for up to a couple of weeks afterward. The only real "treatment" for the nerve issue is time and pain killer if it is bad enough... not sure if that could be it for you but I ended up going to the dentist for tooth pain that was due to some super hot pizza I ate.

I am so sorry. I went through that recently and lived on massive amounts of motrin. I did go to the dentist and they said I probably needed a root canal. If it isn't related to your teeth, it very possibly could be a sinus infection or sinus pressure causing it. Have you checked with your normal doctor?

I am with Angela C...try a sinus rinse or Neti Pot. I just bought the NeilMed brand sinus rinse ($10 at target and comes with 50 packets). That thing is AMAZING. Kind of weird at first but totally worth it, especially if you're having to deal with this pain. Hope that something works and you feel much better soon! =)

It might seem odd, but your posture has alot to do with the nerves in your neck and jaw. That could be a source of the pain, nerves pinching. If you have a tiny crack in your tooth that a real good xray cannot pickup, you might have an abscess brewing. Try chiropractic adjustment, yoga or a high definition xray that can get to the root of where your pain is starting.

Migraines/Headaches can cause bad tooth and gum pains. Did the dentist talk to you about TMJ. Neck pain as well can cause your pain too. Take some 800mg Mortin once daily and try to relax. I have had this issue before and it was a neck pain/headache causing mine. It was so odd my teeth hurt and not anything else. I think a disc in my neck pinched a nerve
