I have been pregnant and had a baby who is 14 months old now, but i was 8 1/2 weeks along the first time i took a test! My question is, its been 2 weeks since the unprotected sex and i have been feeling a lot of pregnancy symptoms. Is it too early to take a test? I dont know about going off a missed period bc my last one was very light and only lasted a few days. That was probably 3 weeks ago (maybe more). I could wait but its been on mind for awhile! Any helpful opinions?

Not too early, I've felt all 4 of my pregnancies within 2 weeks of ovulation. There are very sensitive tests out there, one showed that I was pregnant before the blood test did, but I knew I was (and I was right!!)

2 weeks is too early, even for a blood test. You may be expecting your pregnant (because of the unprotected sex) so of course you're noticing them and you may not be so at all. Both of my blood tests that were done that early were around three weeks. One was just over 3 weeks (closer to 4) and the other one was just before 3 weeks and was almost missed. They weren't sure if it was positive or not so I had to wait a few days and do it again (it was very positive then). So wait another week or two, then go in to the doc. Also, I've heard that a lot of urine tests are picking up pregnancies sooner, so you could try one if you like, but again, wait a week or so. :)

I'd hold off on testing until I had missed a period, you might be right about there if it's been two weeks or so. I waited to take my test until I was three days late and and now five weeks prego! If you aren't too sure when your period should come you can get a test and if negative wait a couple days etc. If still no period, give it a good week and test, it should be positive by then, if not call the dr. Good luck!!

I say take the test but don't take the result too serious. I have had 4 kids and the last three I took the test well before I missed a period and they all came out positive. I then took the test again after I would have had a period just to be sure. I actually even use the $1 test from the Dollar Store.

Good luck!

Have you been worrying about the possibility of being prego? Sometimes you can trick your body into 'feeling' things if you are focused on something like that. I have done it a couple times, where my BC failed (first a condom broke, then I found out my antibiotics cancelled my pills...) Both times I freaked myself out thinking I was prego, felt sick, tired, and very very off. I took tests and they came out negative, and I told myself it was too early. The funny thing is that my 'symptoms' went away as soon as I had my period. lol. You could try a test, couldn't hurt... and if it's negative give it another week before trying again.

For my last baby I used a one dollar test from the dollar tree and it literally showed a positive result less than two weeks after conception. Maybe this isn't normal, but it's what happened for me. I went and bought three more tests (all dollar tests) and took them over the course of 48 hours, all with the same result, so I went to the dr. and had it confirmed.

If you are wondering, why not just go buy a test? In fact, take a fiver and buy five. :)

You could certainly test. I've had + tests come up 10 days after I ovulated (or at least when I thought I did according to ovulation kids!) and was intimate. If you test this early, don't take the result too seriously if it's - and check again in a week...but if you do test, be sure to use concentrated first morning urine...gives you the highest liklihood of a correct result and use either a digital test or my favorite...the PINK First Response Early Result pregnancy test. (And yes...buy a mulit-pack...even if + you'll probably want to test again! =0)

If you don't think a prego test will work (I'm not sure about this early and I haven't read the other responses) you can do a blood test, it shows up earlier in a blood test.

My body is so strange: irregular periods and pregnancies that flew under the radar for a bit- I buy these in the 3-packs and take them pretty much whenever there is a possibility. LOL.

I think most of them say to take "---- number of days BEFORE your missed period" vs when you were together. If you're usually regular, use this to help you determine when to take it.

Good luck!

PS: I'm w/Red - many of my period and pregnancy symptoms were identical.
