I'm having my toddler girl's 3rd b'day party in a couple of days. The guest list will comprise of about 45 adults and 16 kids. Hoping to get ideas to entertain the kids as well as adults.....I'm just wondering how should I plan a 4hr event and keep everyone busy too....
Any ideas or referrals for party entertainers will be so appreciated.

What can I do next?

If you can afford it, hire a face painte, a bounce house or a balloon blower. If not, kids are pretty easily entertained. Get some bubbles, some balls, turn on the sprinkler, do a treasure hunt (that's what we're doing thanks to a mamapedia suggestion!) for my daughter's 3rd. :) Does the party have a theme? That might help us with some ideas. We always do a bounce house and it's ALWAYS a huge hit!

Honestly, I've found great success in the bouce house. Last year for our sons second birthday we rented a bounce house with a slide, and this year we've decided to get a infaltable water slide. The kids loved it, it keeps them occupied the entire time and they're exhausted when the party is over. Parents love it : )

Treat it like a family BBQ. Put out some toy stations for the younger children, put out some games/sports toys for the older children and some adults. And let everyone just have fun. It does not need to be formally organized...especially for your 3 year old who would likely just like to play.

We are doing my sons 3rd bday on saturday. We have a fair amount of people coming and about 11 kids ages 4 month to 10 years. We rented a bounce house to have, and have bean bag toss game and ladder golf set up to play also. We have a swing set and will have a kiddie pool for the younger kids. The first hour or so will just be people getting there and hanging out and the kids can play. Then we will do dinner and presents and cake and ice cream. Then people can choose to stay and hang out or go if they want. As long as you have stuff for the kids to do, the adults should be able to entertain themselves. Have fun!!

Hi,
Bethany response is right on the money. From experience the puppet shows and magician shows do not hold the kids interest. The dressed up cartoon figures scare some of the kids and it is boring. They love the bouncey things, bubbles galore have more than one station.

Perhaps hire or ask a teen relative to be the leader and play some games: duck duck goose or make an easy obstacle course with a ball. Water balloons are also fun if you do not mind getting wet and cleaning up the bits of balloon everywhere. The children need an upbeat organizer for the games and keep the energy high. I am curious if the treasure hunt will work for 3 yr olds, but it is a great idea. I went to a party that had a cotton candy maker and an old fashion popcorn machine. Lots and lots of balloons, kids love the balloons and bubbles it really makes the party fun.

As for the adults, they will enjoy watching the kids, knowing they are involved and having fun. Some will partake in the cotton candy and popcorn and perhaps a water balloon or two.

Hope this was helpful. Have a great party.
