Toddler and Hotel Beds?

Hello!

We just returned from a trip with hotel stay and know that this was the last time we were able to use the hotel pack'n-play or crib as either is now too small for our daughter.
However, I do not know what options there are for her in a hotel besides the crib and p'np. What do you do for your toddler's sleeping arrangements in a hotel?

Thank you already for any suggestions!
D.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses. Based on several nap time try out's, I am pretty sure that sharing with our daughter would not work as she keeps turning round and round. But this inquiry made me finally search for other options and I just ordered a travel cot for her. Supposedly it folds down small and works well for kids 1-5. We will try it in two weeks and see : )

Hi Dielle,

When I have traveled with my daughter and we have stayed in hotels, she sleeps with me. I also put pillows on the other side to act as a bed railing.

Another option is the toddler deluxe inflatable bed. I found it at www.onestepahead.com. It is very similar to the aerobeds but designed for a toddler and it has five inch sides to prevent child from rolling out. We used this last year when we stayed with her cousins for 6 days and it was fantastic. It inflates and deflates within a few minutes and packs into a small travel bag.

Hope this helps.

We take a lot of road trips all over the country, and stay in a variety of motels and hotels with various bed combinations. If it's a king-sized bed, our 3.5yo boy sleeps between us (like he does at home), and if it's 2 queens, then hubby and I sleep in separate beds, and kiddo will sleep with either one of us. I like to put a towel-covered chair back up against his side to act as a railing, and if he's sleeping with hubby, I put him on the side closest to my bed so I can keep my mommy eye on him, since hubby sleeps so soundly.

We don't exactly pack light, and I always bring his pillow, his stuffed animal "babies" that he sleeps with here, and his little blankets. We used to bring the pack-n-play with us too until he outgrew it, and it's sooo much easier just having him sleep in the big bed than having to pack and unpack that thing every day when moving from place to place.

Have fun on your future adventures! :)

Hi D.!

Whenever my husband and I and our three year old son go on trips and stay in Hotels, we get a king size bed and we all sleep in the same bed. If there are only queen size, we get two beds and one of sleeps with him. We've been doing this for three years now. It just works best. We didn't trust hotel cribs or playpens. We did however bring a 'pad' with us for our son to sleep on in case he had an accident. That way it got on the pad and not on the sheets and us.
Hope this helps. :-)

both my boys were transitioned to toddler/ twin beds when they were 18 months.
Here are a couple of suggestions.
If the places you stay have a king bed this might be enough room for all 3 of you.
You can also move chairs to the edge of the bed like a wall. We did this last year when my son was 1 1/2. The propping of pillows also works.
Also getting 2 beds might be an option too. my hubby and I usually split up and each take one child to sleep with.(even when we only had 1.)
If she is already sleeping outside of a crib at home then you shouldn't worry too much about this when you stay in a hotel she'll adjust. But if she is still in a crib at home maybe it's time to buy a big girl bed.

We travel quite a bit and get a room with 2 double beds. Our three year old sleeps in one bed and my husband and I sleep in the other. They typically give you some extra pillows so we tuck him in good and put pillows around him...He sleeps in a big boy bed regularly though! When he was younger, we would make him a little bed on the floor and he thought that was special!
