If it's darker that means you're not drinking enough water. If it's normal color and you do drink a lot of water then I'd guess it's something you ate a few days ago.

Welcome to mamapedia!!

If your urine is dark in color - you are dehydrated.

Are you eating asparagus? It can make your urine smell nasty too.

When you go in for your next visit - make a list of questions for your OB/GYN and put this on the list. Maybe they'll have you pee in a cup to figure out what's going on.

Good luck!

Are you drinking enough water? It's VERY important to drink plenty of water (ask the doc how much) throughout the day so that your uterus doesn't become dehydrated. The uterus is a smooth muscle tissue and if it becomes dehydrated, it shrinks and THAT can cause contractions. Yes, enough to start early labor. (I had premature labor at 24 weeks with my older child and ended up on meds and in bed until he was born - luckily at 37 weeks.)

You also nee to pee often because a full bladder can press on the uterus and ALSO cause contractions.

If I were you, I'd take a urine sample to the doc and see what he or she says about the smell. It could be something you're eating.

Are you drinking enough water? I find that my urine is darker and stinkier if I haven't been drinking enough water.

The first rule of thumb is to inquire with your OB.

If you are not drinking tons of water, start drinking tons of water.

I drink at least 6 bottles of water a day, I don't drink any carbonated drinks, but I do love iced tea. I am well hydrated.

That said, what type of vitamins are you on? Back in July my Dr. put me on a RX Vitamin B12 called PoDiaPN. After I took it about 3 days, I started having horrid smelly urine. I stopped taking it daily and the symptoms stopped. Just a thought.

Best wishes to you.

Well, you are peeing for 2.
You might be a little dehydrated.
Also, when we're pregnant our sense of smell often intensifies.
Drink lot's of water.
You can mention it at your next checkup but I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary.

Have you eaten any asparagus lately?

Is it also darker than usual? You may just need to drink more water.

Think back to things you ate recently. Asparagus can make urine smell strongly. I am sure there are other things, too, but nothing comes to mind.

My answer is similar to the others...certain foods can make your output smell. Drink water and cranberry juice. Other than a UTI, what else could it be? The other thing is you might have a yeast infection. Sometimes, you can mistake the smell of vaginal discharge for the smell of urine.
