I have been using a friend's sit and stand stroller with the Graco infant seat for the summer and I dread going for walks pushing a 2 1/2 and 7 month old! It is so heavy!!! I have finally decided a need a lightweight double stroller. I am considering either the Combi Twin or the MacClaren Double. Does anyone have experience with either? The other that I really liked was the Graco Quattro Duo but I think it will get to heavy. Other suggestions?

What can I do next?

I have the Quattro Duo and LOVE it! It's super easy to maneuver and don't think it's super heavy. We've used it around the zoo and neighborhood without any trouble. My boys that ride are 2 1/2 and 5-months.

I feel your pain- or at least felt your pain. I had the Joovy sit-n-stand caboose and began dreading walks, too. I wanted the Maclaren double but they are so expensive. Then I found the Graco Ipo Twin Stroller; I read about it in a parenting magazine (listed as a "must have") then read the reviews, all of which were awesome. I bought one online for $179.99 at Dimpelsbaby.com- no sales tax and free shipping so that was all I paid. I love the stroller- it is lightweight (not as light as the Maclararen, but it is light), easily manuevrable, fits through normal doorways and looks great. I'm really glad I bought this one. Below is a link to the website I purchased it from- you can see a photo of it there as well. Good luck!

I have twin 16 month old boys and a 3 1/2 girl. I went with the Peg Perego Aria Twin Double m(side by side). My 1st priority was light weight. I have to take the stroller out of the car a lot. I had the Peg Perego Aria single for my daughter and liked the light weight & easy of opening. The double fits through all doors. Negative-filmsy cup holders for parent & and none for kids. It does have a tray on each seat. We feed our twins in the this stroller at restaurants all the time. They also like being next to each other while strolling. Also, good storage below.

I have a peg perego (sp?) side by side, and love it. My kids are 2 1/2 and 1, and they like to be next to each other. It handles really well and is really light. I got mine used from someone, that new price tag hurts too much!

Have you considered the Joovy Caboose Ultralight?
We got it for our 2.5 year old and newborn. LOVE IT! Love it better than my single stroller that I have for the 2.5 year old. A breeze to push, steers awesome. Worth the money.

When I was visiting at home we got to borrow a Jeep double umbrella stroller. It was quite nice, you could lower the back a bit so that they could still sleep semi reclined. I dont know if you would want that as a permanent solution but it's an idea. definitely lightweight and folds up to a small size.

I found a great double stroller at One Step Ahead - bought it 3.5 years ago and am on my third child with it - has a seat in the front for 3-6mo + and a seat that faces the back for an older child who can sit or stand. I get a lot of compliments on it and I wouldn't trade it for anything - I still use it with a 2.5 year old in the front and my 3.5 year old in the back for when we are in large crowds. Only bummmer is that it did not have the infant car seat capability but I made do with blankets around the kids when they were little and made sure they were buckled up tightly. Not sure if they still offer it but it was a steal for $150 when I bought it! Very light and moves well - Good Luck!

I haven't had a double Maclaren but I have had a single. I've also bought a ton of strollers before. Maclaren was by far the easiest to push when you have a high weight load. My daughter was in her stroller til probaly 4 years old and occasionally at 5 years old. She just liked her stroller and she was a breeze to push.

Hi, L..
I have 2 year old twins and have experience with both front to back stroller and side by side. They both have their pros and cons, it's just a matter of preference. I now use a Jeep double side by side. I had a Combi double stroller and it fell apart after only about 6 months of using- and it was regular use, I wasn't very h*** o* it at all. Two of the wheels became very wobbly & the back canopy & pockets fell apart and came undone. My experience with customer service was not much better. After submitting the requested photos, I waited a while for the Quality Assurance staff to get back to me regarding their decision to "replace" it. Well, "replacing" meant that they would send me the parts, at a shipping cost to me, and I could replace the parts myself. That decision did not fit with me, nor a lifestyle of taking care of one-year-old twins, to try and figure out how to replace these parts on what i felt was an expensive stroller after 6 months of regular use (going in and out of stores, walks around the neighborhoods).

On the other hand, I have a friend who swears by the Macclarens & I've spoken to a few families of twins who have the double and they love it.

hope that helps. good luck!

Side x Sides aren't that easy to get around with in stores, fairs etc. They are "wide" Keep that in mind when buying one. I have a friend who got so frustrated with hers she couldn't go anywhere alone she always needed someone to stay with the stroller so she could go look at things.
