Tired of Having My Hormones Played With...

So, I started on Loestrin 3 months ago, after weaning my son. I had breakthrough bleeding the first 2 months on Loestrin at day 14. At the start of the placebo pills on pack #2, I started on Zithromax for 5 days. When I was not feeling better, I was put on Amoxicillin for 10 days which lasted into day 12 of 3rd pill pack. Again, I had breakthrough bleeding at day 14 of pill pack. I called MD to switch pills as I feel that Loestrin must not be strong enough. At the end of this pill pack, I have script for new birth control. Since 3rd week of this pill pack, I have felt exactly as I did when I was pregnant. My boobs are extremely sore, extreme fatigue, and increased appetite. I did not have this the previous 2 months on Loestrin. My period is due to start today, no show so far. Negative hpt this morning. We had sex during this time (really can't remember exact dates) and used withdrawal which I know really isn't reliable. Do I feel bad because I am on the wrong birth control or because antibiotics messed with hormone levels or pregnant? Any advice or personal experience appreciated!

So What Happened?

AF arrived so it must be the birth control making me feel bad. Now onto a new hormone experiment with my new bc pills.

I did get pregnant while I was on the pill and taking antibiotics, so it is a possibility if you didn't use another form of birth control.

When I was on the z-pack antibiotics the pharmacist told me that I had to use a back up method while on the antibiotics and also a week afterwards. You may have not been on the right birthcontrol. Did your husband wear a condom during this time and at least a week afterwards since you were on the antibiotics fro so long?

If you had sex within the same month to 6 weeks of being on the antibiotics, you're probably pregnant. Antibiotics cancel out hormonal birthcontrol, and you have to wait a full 30 day cycle AFTER the last day of antibiotics, while on the pill to be covered again. Time for a test.

I was on full time antibiotics for acne, while on birth control. The babies name was Jessie and she turns 19 next week! That was before people knew antibiotics could negate the pill.

Can't be sure, but antibiotics do make birth control pills less effective and this is just how a good friend of ours became pregnant when she was 18. When I was on The Pill and had to take antibiotics, hubby had to wear a condom. Were you using any form of back-up birth control when you were on the antibiotics? You can either wait a week and take another home pregnancy test if you don't get your period, or call your doctor and see what he/she says.

Keep taking those tests. My 4 yr old got prescribed penicillan yesterday and clearly on the label it says it interfers with bc. O, and I got pregnant 2xs on the" withdrawl method!"
