Just wanted to hear from other moms. I am 21 weeks pregnant and have a 2.5 year old daughter. I know every pregnancy is different, but I get so exhausted (esp at the end of the day). Trying to keep up with her and we have two dogs. My husband works at night right now so I feel like I have to do most of the work. My family lives in another state. Anyone else with two kids feel overwhelmed? I am nervous about juggling two kids and two dogs and work and such. Any advice? thanks

What can I do next?

Hi S.!

I don't know how high maintenance your dogs are, but since you mention them twice, it seems they are on your mind :) As a dog trainer, I would recommend that you get them into a schedule that is super easy for you so that they know what to expect and so do you. Also, if you can afford it, I would send them to doggie day care a few hours a few times a week or get an occasional dog walker. This can drain lots of energy so you have very little to deal with throughout the week.
Sending you wishes for a relaxing and exciting pregnancy!

Hi S.:
All I can say is hang in there girl, its gets better. I was the same very exhausted with my second pregnancy and my son was also 2.5. I worked full-time, no dogs. I was having a very difficult time in my marriage. Thank god I had my sister and my son's godmother. Call on anyone you can thrust to help with your toodler. I use to nap at work at lunch time and before I picked up my son, I would sneak home for a nap. Now my son is 5 and my daughter is almost 2, its difficult at times but I am enjoying them and you will. God bless.

Hi, have you tried taking iron pills? I take Ferro-Sequels. I started taking them when I was 4 months preg. I was sleeping 10 hrs at night, getting up at 7 & needed a nap by 10. My dr suggested 3 pills but it was too strong. I take 2 pills everyday. My girls are 2 yr 9 mo apart. I moved all the plastic bowls & silverware to a lower cabinet before my second was born. I would wash & cut the fruit. I made small bags of dry snacks and put them in a basket with granola bars in the cabinet so she could reach it. I filled sippy cups and left them in the refrig. If she wanted a snack she could help herself. I had her help fold the laundry (underwear & socks). She helped unload the dishwasher-all her plastic stuff. My daughter thought it was fun, we spent time together talking or singing and it taught her to be independent. It also helped me by being able to do the chores and play with her at the same time. Now they pack their own lunches, pick out clothes, make a plate of leftovers & microwave it (8 & 5 yrs old). They should be a get help with my 3rd due any day now.

I felt the same way through most of my pregnency--I have a 2 month old daughter and a just turned 3 year old son. My best friend was a huge help and still is. My older one year old naps still so I could get a rest then because I was home. Can you get a mother's helper for dinner and bedtime one or a few nights a week? Then you will have someone you are used to when the baby is born. I wanted to do that and was too tired to get organized before the baby and now it is so hectic to try and get anything done. Do yourself a favor and line up whatever help you can for the last 6-8 weeks of pregnancy and then when the baby comes home. I can find you the list I had of post partum doulas in north Jersy if you email me.
