I have these tiny little ants that appear magically in my bedroom on the nightstand. Whenever we place coffee cup or saucer with something on it, they just appear. I had these little ants previously in my bathroom, so I put out Boric Acid.. Instantly the ants left and have not reappeared.. I used the same Boric Acid (powder) on the night stand.. They haven't stopped at all..... We have quarterly pest control, but the little ants (or bugs) do not appear unless a food or drink is present.. Even if you place it on the night stand for short period of time like 20 minutes, when you come back.. They have come and taken over.... PLEASE help.... I don't know what to do about this....

What can I do next?

I have had these ants for a couple of years. Found out they are Pharaoh ants. Look them up online and see if they look like what you have. When you spray, they know their colony is under attack and make lots of satellite colonies and then come back in other places with a vengeance. Apparently you have to bait them to get them to take the poison back to the entire colony to really get rid of them. Terro works well sometimes, but they weren't always attracted to it, and they still kept coming back. I finally gave in and called an exterminator. He sold me a product called Advance Dual Choice bait, which seems to be really working. The ants swarmed most of the stations that I put out, and now I haven't seen any more in several weeks. I even put some on the outside where I saw them entering my house, and when I went back to check the baits, not only were the Pharaoh ants taking the bait, but the fire ants were, as well! Good luck!!

could be sugar ants and you need a good toxic ant control to spray, but my neighbor had the same thing and she thought they were sugar ants and they're not. They are a type of ant that lives in the walls and as you spray they move to a different section of wall. She had to spend big money to get rid of them. Hopefully, you have sugar ants.

They are actually sugar ants. We get them in the boys bathroom every summer. Not sure how they appear or where they come from. We have used an Ortho bug spray, the kind the pest people would use, around the entire parameter of our house every month. We usually find it at Lowe's or Home Depot. We did put spray down the drain at night for a while after the boys went to bed. You said you have quarterly pest control. Do you have the tubings in the interior of the house? If so, the pest company may want to try something else if you alert them of the problem. Hope this helps and good luck. -- L.

Terro is the absolute best. I can't tell you how much effort I put into ant control before I found that stuff, and it really works.

The best thing I have found for ants were the Terro liquid ant baits. I used to have those tiny ants ALL over my kitchen. Last year I used the baits and I didn't see any ants until much later in the season (this year) and there were not many. I bought more baits tis year and put them in the areas where I saw them and within a week they were gone again.

Termites. Dead Serious. You need to get your house checked. Not ants, termites. I thought they were ants too for a looong time, and our situation was exactly the way you describe it. After it gets dark outside, leave a light on in your bathroom since that's where you see the tiny "ants" (termites), Ours was in our kitchen, so you could try that too, anywhere near a water source, leave a light on, and place some kind of white object, prefferrably one with a slick, kind of shiny surface near the light on the counter. If you see any "flying ants" appear on the light or the white object, large or even tiny, you have termites. Even if you dont see these, those ants you are seeing, are termites, you just may be in a different stage. Sorry!!!!

This happened to my parents, and it just got worse. They tried to "exterminate" themselves with sprays and such bt with no luck...they just kept coming back. They finally called an exterminator...GONE! We use Bulwark's Family Pest Control (we live out in the country and have all kinds of creepie crawlers), so they used them. Bulwark is a great company, highly recommend them.
