Tingling Feeling

Has anyone else with multiple c-section scars ever had this feeling of tingling, like worms crawling inside the scars, tickling with a feather, crawly type feeling every now and then. I want to say it's nerves, but I do not know? Any clue? I go to my OBGYN for first regular checkup after baby so I will ask as well. Just curious if this is unique to me or not.

What can I do next?

I've only had one c-section but I had the same feeling while healing. It was very weird but it did go away.

I have a double C scar which is respectivly 5 and 3 years old and to this day the scar is kind of numb. All my friends that have C's have the same kind of numb sensation and I have spoken to my OB about it as well and was told it is completely normal so I've never given it much more thought

Is this your first C-section? I see you have 2 boys...

I had two and I did feel that the first time but not the second. It will go away after a long while... Also when it rains you will feel a sensation in the scar area..

Hi Pat,

That is normal for a while. I have had 2 c-sections and I had that quite a bit. It felt like something moving around in there. You may want to ask just to be sure, but I am sure it is everything settling back down after the birth and just readjusting to "normal" life.... as normal as it can be after babies arrive:-)
Congratulations on the new arrival!!!

Congrats on your new arrival!
I am a massage therapist and just took a class on scar tissue. The tingling you feel at times is the nerves starting to regenerate. It is also the build up of scar tissue adhering to your muscles. I started using kinesio tape after I became certified kinesio taping practicioner to help lift the tissue and I am starting to see the scar tissue dissolve and the scar minimize. It's amazing the benefits Kinesio tape has. So not too worry. Sounds like something normal with having a C section. But you can do something about it.

Not a c-section scar (didn't have one) but I have a 12 year old scar on my side that is fairly large and used to flare up now and again. I don't remember how long it took for it to stop but it would itch like crazy and even swell up and darken. Now it's white and not very noticeable, hasn't done it in years.

I have had the same experience so has my sister so I guess it common. 5 Years after my C Section, that area still feels a little itchy/numb...different. But definitely talk to your Doctor about it. Good Luck!

Hi Pat. I had the same thing with my C-section scar. Every once in a while (usually when it rains) I also get itchy in that area.

Pat,

Same thing happened to me. It has now been 7 months since my second c-section and the area around my scar is starting to feel back to normal. I asked my doctor about it at my 6 week check-up and he said it can take up to a year for the feeling to come back.

I have had a single c-section, 2 years ago. I still have areas of tingling and/or numbness. We forget that c-sections aren't just simple, routine surgeries. They are major abdominal surgeries with lifelong repercussions. :(

I have not experienced what you are describing but I can tell you that I have multiple c-sections (3) and the most recent is 3 years old. It is still quite sensitive in that if my son jumps on my abdomen or if I scratch it too hard or bump into it, it is very sensitive. It sounds like nerve endings. Be sure to talk to your OB about it.

Wow, I'm not the only one! I have had 3 c-sections, then the incision was opened another 3 times for various surgeries, the last one 2years ago. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Same tingly sensation across the old incision scar, drives me nuts! Keeps me awake too. Feels like a tickly feather, or worms under the skin even! I think it's probably to do with nerve regeneration , but not sure. Thanks for posting, helps knowing there are others with this exact same condition.
