So What Happened?

Wicked it is, I got so many great suggestions and ended up buying tickets to Wicked for Feb 22nd. My mom will be here for a week and I am sure this will be something she will remember. Thanks everyone who responded, my second choice is Jersey Boys, so perhaps my husband and I will see that sometime.

WICKED is a hit with all - young or old. The scenery, costumes, music and story are engaging. Have fun! Buy online and consider selecting a package where you stay overnight. There are Winter deals to draw people downtown in February - I heard it on the radio.

There's also Marriot Lincolnshire, but I don't know what's showing there now.

And don't dismiss community theaters altogether - there are some really good ones out there (my personal favorite is Wheaton Drama Inc.)

Take her to see Wicked! It is INCREDIBLE! You can get tickets through ticked master online! I am not sure if Phantom of the Opera is still in town, but that was another great show...

My husband and I really liked Wicked. My mom saw Jersey Boys and loved it so much that she is going again. I don't know if Phantom of the Opera is still here but that is a wonderful show, too. Enjoy!!

I took my mom to see 'Jersey Boys' and we both really liked it. Although I think the only tickets left are for weekday evenings...but it is a really good show. My sister saw 'Wicked' and really liked it. You could also search online for shows in Chicago and I'm sure you can find everyhting that is playing. Pheasent Run Resort in St Charles (I believe) also has a theatre with some good shows.

Wicked is awesome - I've seen it twice and loved it both times. To find tickets, just do a search on Wicked - musical - chicago and I'm sure you'll be able to find out which vendor is selling the tickets. Have fun!

If you haven't seen it already, "Wicked" is amazing! It's playing downtown at the Ford Theatre. They have tickets there, or I think you can also purchase them through TicketMaster. Have fun!

We saw Blue Man Group in Nov. and it was outstanding! We all had a great time. The first 5 rows are the 'poncho seats'. While there is the potential for 'mess', it really wasn't but a few people who got something on them.
Funny, entertaining, creative and full of the unexpected.

for downtown music/theatre tickets, there is a booth called HotTix (like the one that sells discount tickets for Broadway shows in New York City). Here is their website in downtown Chicago: http://www.hottix.org/

you can also take your mom to the Blue Man Group. The above website also sells their tickets.

Or, a great play to see is Wicked. You can either buy tickets at the box office or you can try your luck at Borders (on the Weekends or at the box office during weekday)...they draw twenty tickets for each showing for $25/tickets. Here is informatin on that:

"That's because a ticket drawing is held two hours before each performance begins. Just show up at the theater box office, 24 Randolph St. (or the Borders bookstore at 150 N. State St. on weekends), and enter. If your name is pulled, you can buy up to two tickets in the front two rows for the next show. For more: www.wickedthemusical.com/chicago.

here is information on Drury Lane in downtown:

Similar drawings take place for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," now showing at Drury Lane Theatre, 175 E. Chestnut St. For more: www.spellingbeethemusical.com/chicago.

Have fun.

We went to see Wicked and it was awesome. We went to the Sunday afternoon show which was much cheaper and we got third row seats. My daughter recently went to see Blue Man Group and she went on a Thursday night. She got front row tickets for about 67.00 on line. But be warned its loud and you will get covered in toilet paper. But she says its a blast!

The last play we saw was "Wicked" and it was excellent!!!
I really want to see it again! (I wouldn't recommend the book, however, too graphic)
We get our tickets from the theatre box office or Ticketmaster.com
ENJOY!!

Hello!

I heard that Jersey Boys is outstanding.

Also, believe it or not, the best view of the city is from the ladies bathroom in the bar at the top of Hancock. You buy a drink and get a view - beautiful on a clear night.

Have fun!!

My daughter and I went to see Wicked at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts (Oriental Theatre). I bought tickets by calling "Broadway in Chicago" Hotline.
I spent a good amount of time on the phone with the person in making sure that I got the perfect seating. We sat front row balcony in the center of the room. I recommend getting 2nd or 3rd row balcony in the center. Those would be the best seats in the house. I'll be getting those tickets when we go again in the summer.
