Thinking About Starting an Active Mommy and Me group...anyone Interested?

Hello Everyone! Ok. So I am a new mom. My son is 7 months old and I am the ONLY one and I repeat the only one of ALL my friends with a baby. At first I thought that I would be fine...that I have plenty of friends and I won't be lonely. But, a girl with a child can only take so much of her friends telling them about their single adventures. I love to hear them...but it isn't fair to myself that I am not reciprocating things about my life out of fear of boring them. My poor husband...I don't think that he realized that he was signing up to be the main work force, a new dad and the wall for his wailing wife.

So. I am interested in starting a running/walking(Active) mommy and me. I like the outdoors and love taking my son everywhere. The Rose Bowl is a great place to start. A fun, brisk run/walk around the rose bowl does a mommy and baby right! Other ideas are hikes to Chantry Flats, JPL, Runyon Canyon, Manhattan beach, Santa Monica. The sky is the limit. This is a way to get out of the house with other moms and be active! Of course, a good cup of coffee with good banter is always an option for the after party. I have always been apprehensive to join a mommy and me. So, I figure this one can be no pressure, good times, good people and a way for our kids to meet other kids! I am thinking M/W/F at the Rose Bowl at around 10:00. I am a runner, but can always slow down for some good chatting! Anyone?

What can I do next?

sounds like a good idea to get out and about. Just want to tell you about a group I'm in called Babes in backpacks. We hike on Tuesdays at different locations every week. A GREAT way to work off that baby fat and get out in nature with your child. Find out more at www.babesinbackpacks.com.

Oh dear....I remember the days when I used to strut around in stilettos and mini skirts...gone are those days once I got pregnant and FAT! I definitely need a good kick in the butt and start walking around with my son. He's also 7 months. We're in the Los Feliz area.

Most of my friends have kids, but they live so far away!! We're like the only ones who live in this area. I totally thought my one friend, who recently got married, was moving into the neighborhood, but then her husband found a better job in Vegas, so they packed up and moved away the moment she got married.

Hey H.-I am a second time Mama. I've got a 2 1/2 year old son and a 6 month old daughter. You sound a lot like me. I'm happily married and live an active outdoor lifestyle. (I'm a hiker) Although I would love to help you form a group, you're pretty far away. I'm on the west side near LAX, so I'm closer to Manhattan or Santa Monica. I have many friends who are new moms, but they are all spread out and I've been trying to connect with moms who are closer to me. (Honestly I didn't think it would be so hard!) If you decide to choose multiple meeting places I'd be up for meeting on Wednesdays or Fridays with you in the Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, Westchester or Culver City areas.
Good Luck to you!

Oh, I just wrote you a really long response, but the website crashed and it disappeared. So, here's the short version:
My situation is like yours! New mom, new to Pasadena, all friends are single, husband adjusting to being sole source of income, etc. Anyway, I go to Huntington Hospital's Mommy and Me group. It's Tuesdays 10-11:30ish and $10 per class. Also, I go to the free Breastfeeding Support Group on Thursdays, same time, where I've met lots of moms too. I don't really need help with breastfeeding, but I and a bunch of moms just go to get out of the house and socialize. I have met lots of moms at both groups!
There's also a Moms Club International branch (www.momsclubpasadena.com). They told me that a bunch of moms with babies just joined. You can attend the first two functions for free before joining. I haven't had time to go yet.
Lastly, I can't run yet but would love to join you for a walk around the Rose Bowl.

My daughter is 6 months old and I'm in the Mt. Washington/Glassell Park area. We love Pasadena and I could definitely use some exercise. I think 10 should work with naps. I'm not a runner but love to walk quickly! I'm also thinking of starting swim lessons for her at the Rose Bowl when it warms up a little. Keep me posted!

I'm down to meet up with some beautiful babies and ladies. I have a son who is also 7 months old and we need friends. I have single friends doing "single things," and married friends not doing the "baby thing." So I'm floating in a strange new world with a rainbow of emotions ranging from complete bliss to where is that hot chick I once knew? Yes, Rhythm and I need out of the house and into the world of communication. I live in Glendale, and am free to travel around the valley and beyond. Let's get together!

Hi H.,

I have an eight month old son and we both could use some more activity buddies. I'm not in running shape anymore. I have some numbness in my feet and hands from pregnancy, but walking the Rose Bowl, JPL, etc... would be great.

HI H.,

I would absolutely love to go with you but I have a 4 year old who is now out of strollers entirely! Let me know if you do any morning walks in the West Hollywood area. I'm happy to come with you by myself when my little guy is in pre-school. My son can't walk fast enough to make it a work out for me.
