I would love to hear from any moms out there who are or have used Thieves Household Cleaner. I am very interested in finding a safer way to clean and was wondering what your experience with this brand has been. And also where you purchased yours from. I see it online for 30 dollars. Is that a fair price and how long will that bottle last you? Finances are very tight right now so I can't just purchase something unless I know it is going to work or maybe someone has an alternative they can suggest. I am having some health issues and everytime I use bleach which I try not to do often my lungs ache for days after. So I want to stay avway from the stuff if possible.
Thanks in advance everyone.
Hugs,
K.

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your input. I do use vinegar on my floors but haven't had good luck cleaning else where with it. I actually took your suggestion and scrubbed my kids bathtub with baking soda and WOW! I can't believe how well it cleaned and how easy it was. I barely had to scrub at all! I definitley need to pick up the book that was suggested next time I'm at my local healthfood store.Until then, can anyone tell me how they use the vinegar and baking soda together to disenfect? Thanks again everyone.
Hugs,
K.

I agree with others. Baking soda works great, as does vinegar. But another often overlooked, and really cheap, product is hydrogen peroxide. A big bottle for less than a dollar. No odor. And, it disinfects. What more could you ask for?

Good luck.

I've been using Sensaria Natural Bodycare's Citrus Cleaner for 8 1/2 years now for everything in the house, from getting out all stains, cleaning the kitchen, wiping something down, washing fruits and vegetables, to laundry soap. It is the only thing we have been using along with baking soda and vinegar. Comes in a 32-oz bottle for $18 BUT it is a concentrate that makes up to 32 bottles of All Purpose Cleanser AND 'green'. I have a front load washer too.

Great for those with eczema, allergies, sensitivities to most laundry soaps.

Comparisions:
Sensaria's Citrus Cleaner $18 for 32 bottles of All Purpose Cleaner
Green Works $162 for 32 bottles of All Purpose Cleaner
Babyganics $230 for 32 bottles of All Purpose Cleaner
Satin Smooth $462 for 32 bottles of All Purpose Cleaner

I offer a first time discount to new customers:o) www.sensaria.com/J.

I use Distilled vinegar and water to clean my floors (cheap!) and sometiems I add a few drops of essential oil to make it smell like aromatherapy. LOL I use baking soda to clean my stainelss steel sink, toilets, tubs, etc....and I also use that to clean my clothes....or TSP (trisodium phosphate)...and sometiems I'll add oxyclean to the whites.

We have never used chemicals....in fact, currently, I don't even use any lotions or conditioner for my hair and I can't believe how great it feels and looks. I was hoodwinked into buying that stuff...great advertising companies, huh?

I use grapeseed oil to cook with and I also use it for my face and body, I've used olive oil on my kids after their bath, since I won't put xenoestoregens on their bodies.

I have never used Thieves either but I can tell you that I switched stores to Melaleuca. Their products not only work but are safe, non-toxic alternatives to what you find elsewhere.

Bleach is not good to use...effective to clean no doubt but NOT good for you, your family, or the environment.

I have never used Thieves household cleaner but for almost all of the cleaning and disinfecting in my house I use vinegar or baking soda. They are very cheap and work great.

I have the same sensitivities to cleaning products and so I started making my own. I purchased a book from a health store called Better Basics for the home. One of the best products to clean grout and to eliminate mold is hyrdogen peroxide. There are no fumes and it really resolves the mold issue in the bathroom. Another great cleaning product is Borax.

I am a Thieves LOVER!! We use it for EVERYTHING (family of 5 with 3 small children), and not only is it not bad for you, Thieves boosts your immune system...the origins come from long ago and helped protect people during times of various Plagues. It is pricey, but my bottle has lasted for years because you use very little amounts. I also use "Magic Eraser" type sponges that help clean up stubborn dirty spots with the Thieves. Two thumbs up from this Thieves enthusiast. If you are having physical difficulties, I would look into using Young Living Essential Oils....they are amazing and have kept my family super healthy for years! Email me if you need any help or if you have any questions. Look at www.oil-testimonials.com to help get you started!!

I will echo the others....I clean everything with vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and alcohol.
Toilets and bath: pour in baking soda then add vinegar and let it fizz. The fizzing helps with the cleaning (and the kids think it is fun).
I disinfect and whiten my tile countertops (and the grout) by pouring hydrogen peroxide directly on and then laying paper towels over top to spread out the liquid.
I make a basic disinfecting cleanser in a spray bottle by mixing rubbing alcohol, cheap vodka, water, and essential oils (I like lavendar and mint). The rubbing alcohol because it is cheaper than vodka and the vodka because rubbing alcohol alone has a pretty intense smell. Mixing the two with water makes is affordable and not so intensely alcohol smelly. Use it to clean counter tops, toilets, kitchen table, etc.
I concur with the others on vinegar for floors.

I have never used Thieves but have you tried peroxide or maybe vinegar. Both are great alternatives to bleach and peroxide does disinfect. I have noticed that in the bowls and basins it is not so great but maybe a combination of baking soda and the peroxide might take it to the level of clean that would work out for you. good luck and nix the bleach especially if it hurts to breathe..

All your answers are really what i wanted to say too. Baking Soda and Vinegar, and of course the book one of the ladies recommended. I use to use bleach all the time to clean our bathroom and it smelled bad even after. I was worried for my daughters health mostly, so we tried the all natural cleaning and it works great and doesn't smell. You can even go online and look up how to make the solutions. I had seen an article on Yahoo or also Webmd had a good article.

Vinegar and baking soda. Super cheap and work better than anything else I've ever tried.
