I don't have any advice, but my inlaws worked and lived in the Woodlands for a few years. Really beautiful city, I enjoyed visiting them when we could (we are in Dallas area)

I lived there temporarily when I was displaced by a hurricane. Lived with a cousin for 3 weeks. Gorgeous area. Parks, tons of trees. Community feel. Upscale. Nice choice!

Our cousins have finally found a home they will stay in and it is in the Woodlands. The left DFW and could have lived anywhere. They love it.

My aunt & uncle moved to The Woodlands last year and they really love it. I visited it them last September and also thought it was a great place. The neighborhood they chose is a good 20 minute drive the the heart of The Woodlands, where all of the neat stores, shopping, restaurants are, so you might want to really investigate the location of the houses you'd be considering. We seemed to spend a lot of time in the car! But it's a great town and they've been nothing but happy there. Lot's of trees & greenery, fantastic bike paths, etc. Good luck to you!

Hi A.! Welcome to Texas!!

I live in Spring which is right next to The Woodlands. It is a lovely area. Lots of trees, friendly people. We looked there when we moved to Houston 8 years ago. Honestly, I didn't want to spend $50,000 on the same home I have now. The school district is Conroe ISD. I have several friends who live there and they love it. I really like the North side of Houston. We are in the Klein School District in Spring.

The traffic in Houston is terrible. If your husband or you will be working downtown or the Galleria area that is a hell of a commute. There is a bus service "The Woodlands Express" that will take people from The Woodlands to downtown/Galleria. Not bad. My friend does that and she loves it. Saves her mileage on the car and she can sleep!

If you want to pm me I'm happy to answer any questions.

It's GREAT if you have kids and/or want to have allot of community involvement. The Conroe ISD is one of the best in the country. It's got surplus $ while everyone else is WAY in the hole. Where will you/your husband be working? Just as a suggestion, if it's downtown, you definitely want to find somewhere in Grogans Mill or Panther Creek to live. They are in the front of the Woodlands and easy access to everything.

Don't know how much you want to spend on a home, but from what I understand about Denver, you can probably get at least a third more house for the same money here.

Taxes in TW are high though - helps to pay for all the ammenities - which is ALLOT. There are community swimming pools, almost every subdivision has a park (all of them do have one within walking distance), there's free concerts in the park, TONS of kids' activities in and out of school. There's a natatorium (I know I didn't spell that right).

If you want to ask specific questions, please feel free - I've lived here for 19 years!!! When we moved in, there were 35,000 people - now we're well over 100,000. I was here when the mall opened and when we moved in there were 3 restaurants - now there's over 100!!! Ask away!
